Morris thing so I'm not sure how much the current staff really cares about that.

That has not been a goal since Scott and Elliot took over.
They are more concerned with running the correct plays rather than just hurrying up and running the next one.
I think Venables appreciates the difference.
I do think we go a little too slow sometimes trying to find the perfect adjustment at the line, but what we do now is typically better for the more talented team.
What Chad did was needed when he got here, but I think our current approach is an improvement.

I get the dislike for the screen game but...
We have an 87 yard TD on a screen pass this season.
We have a TD pass on a fake screen this season.
We have gotten LBs and safeties to move their eyes to fake screens successful run plays this season.
We have also had a good many 5-8 yard gains on screen plays this season.
The reason so many dislike WR screens is because when they don't work, they look like a play that could never work in a million years.
Also a lot of people still feel like it is a failed play when we gain 4-5 yards on first down on a screen because they think would could have scored a TD with a better play.
Screens are a part of every spread offense. They are excellent when the actual screens and the plays off of screen action are used at the right times to catch the defense off guard.

I don’t disagree with any of that at all. I just don’t miss that as a major part of our offense. Our running game is much stronger with a more talented Oline now.
I’m ready for our TE catching to become more a part of the offense. I have a feeling the playoffs will be an interesting look at what we have been missing with Galloway out.

Chad Morris

...that's what happened.
Since he was our OC Clemson's personnel has changed and we don't always need to go fast to win games.
It's a postive, not a negative.
Now we can play fast or slow and beat anybody. Back when Chad was our OC the only way we could beat good teams was with tempo all game long.

Is the reason, being that running a hurry up offense doesn't give the other team time to substitute or to change their defensive scheme at the line of scrimmage when seeing what the Clemson offensive formation is??
Am I missing anything?

We have better players now, particularly on the offensive line. Our staff has shown that we can go at any speed when its appropriate. Weve won 1 NC with a 100 plays and the other with under 63. Also we're probably more explosive under Scelliott so there's less opportunities for plays.
