Initially we did because he was hired as a sort of DF type coach and he coached at Clemson under DF. But when he failed to build a winning program fan support declined. Tommy West admitted in an interview he was in over his head when he took the HC’s job at Clemson.

Then he was hired at Memphis eventually became the HC and help to lead them to BG’s for the first time in many years. When he was fired from Memphis during his final interview he told the fans and the administration to either back the program or get rid of football. I believe Tommy West should be given some credit for the success Memphis Football currently has now. The administration and fans finally got behind the program and invested more money into new facilities and coaches.

It’s to bad he came to Clemson at the wrong time in his career. He is a good coach too. He judged needed more experience as a HC before taking the Clemson job.

It was the wrong time for him but he did his best and I always hope the best for him.

I did sat in rain and watched us lose to Wake Forest @ home. About 25,000 of my best friends made it until the end.
