Congrats to Oregon on their 1st trip to the Final 4

since they won the very first NCAA basketball tournament in 1939.....

Now for the history lesson:

One of the teams favored to win that very first NCAA Tournament was none other than tiny Clemson College located in the foothills of Northwestern SC.....but, as the story goes, several of the basketball players also played on Clemson's football team and the football coach refused to allow those players to miss any of spring practice (the Tigers had played in a bowl game that season) and thus no Tiger team left for the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois to participate .......Clemson's star and All-American basketball player was also an All-American in football--Banks McFadden...And he was voted National Athlete of the Year

good enough to ever do it now. There is no way they could go to the Final 4 with their history. No way Northwestern could win a tournament game after never going to the tournament before. There is no way the Coots are in the elite 8 with their history. Just like there is no way we could ever do anything great in basketball at Clemson either due to our past.
