Conference perspective from a Clemson family
May 24, 2012, 7:56 AM
|
|
1. When my grandfather went to Clemson, we were in the SIAC. 2. When my father played form Clemson, we were in the Southern Conference. 3. When I went to Clemson, we were in the ACC. 4. By the time my daughter graduates from Clemson, we most likely will be in an expanded Big-12.
My family history is a great example that throughout Its history, Clemson has changed athletic conferences when the necessity arose. Clemson orange runs through the blood of my family, so I and my family will support Clemson no matter what conference we are in. I only want our leaders to keep Clemson relevant as a football program on the national level. If that means we go to the Big-12, then I say kiss the Tarhole loving ACC goodbye!

this ain't your grandaddy's clemson.
nice post, understand it, but there's a lot more on the line than leaving the socon or a 'league' when football was a club sport.

One things going to change for your family

Travel---all the other past changes did not affect the travel of your family much. The Big 12 will drastically change things. I'm all for telling the ACC to kiss off and take our chances in the Big 12 if it's the right thing for Clemson in the long run. Also I'd like to travel to new places even if they're not at the top of everyones destination top spots. But don't kid ourselves, Clemson nation will not travel like we've been known for cause folks simply can't afford it. Be careful what you wish for, but I'm leaning for change if all the "rumors" are half way correct.

If we're in the Big 12 and we are winning you can bet your @$$ Clemson fans will be traveling. If we're winning in the big12 we're atleast top 15 if not higher. If undefeated, we're top 5.

Update BCS Rankings, Week 9: Clemson Tigers Climb Two Spots, Now Ranked No. 5
Clemson continued their high-scoring ways Saturday, blowing out the North Carolina Tar Heels 59-38, and the undefeated Tigers are now ranked No. 5 in the latest BCS Standings, two spots higher than last week. Clemson is one of only two ACC teams to make the Week 9 BCS Top 25 rankings. Virginia Tech, 30-14 victors over Boston College on Saturday, check in at No. 12, the same slot they a week ago. The LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide maintained the first and second positions, with Oklahoma State, Boise State and Clemson rounding out the Top 5. Here are the complete Week 9 BCS Standings: 1 LSU 2 Alabama 3 Oklahoma State 4 Boise State 5 Clemson 6 Stanford 7 Oregon 8 Kansas State 9 Oklahoma 10 Arkansas 11 Michigan State 12 Virginia Tech 13 South Carolina 14 Nebraska 15 Wisconsin 16 Texas A&M 17 Houston 18 Michigan 19 Penn State 20 Texas Tech 21 Arizona State 22 Georgia 23 Auburn 24 Texas 25 West Virginia

I would be more interested in travelling to UT ot OU

than any ACC team, except FSU. I've been to Austin on business and it's great. UT fans remind of Alabama fans with their smug arrogance, but they have earned it. I got that opinion drinking with a bunch of UT guys one night in Austin, so my experience may not be the norm. I would love to party in Austin after Whipping some Texas butt.
