South Carolina played Virginia in December of 2018, and Clemson hasn't played Virginia since 2013 and just twice since 2009.

It’s neither Clemson nor Alabama’s fault that

SCar nor Virginia can qualify for their respective conference championship games on a regular basis.

IDK, Virginia was picked 1st in the coastal and has multiple conference trophies. Coots on the other hand...

We have Georgia Tech to thank for that

I despise having a fixed cross-divisional opponent, and I despise that it's GT even more. Think of how many great games we've missed out on against Miami, VT and UNC over the years.

I dunno, I do consider Georgia Tech a rival.

Sep 12, 2019, 9:28 AM

It makes sense to me that we play them every year. Makes more sense than us playing Syracuse every year.

Yeah, if there is one team I want to plays as often as possible, it would be GT. Just my $2 opinion....

It is the weirdness of 14 team conferences... the rotations take too long to play out

The Permanent Cross-Division rival makes it even worse.

I've always thought that a no-division round robin, with one or two permanent rivals (to preserve natural rivalries like Miami-FSU; Clemson-Tech [yes, I'd keep that one]; NC-NC State) would have been better from a competition standpoint. We'd play other conference teams more evenly, even if we played most of our current division rivals a little less frequently.

Seems to me it would also better guarantee that the two best teams play for the conference championship.

Not that I think it will ever happen, of course. It won't.
