South Carolina played Virginia in December of 2018, and Clemson hasn't played Virginia since 2013 and just twice since 2009.

I despise having a fixed cross-divisional opponent, and I despise that it's GT even more. Think of how many great games we've missed out on against Miami, VT and UNC over the years.

It makes sense to me that we play them every year. Makes more sense than us playing Syracuse every year.

...such a tough conference because we have Virginia in it but at the same time we hardly play them? If this was a basketball thread then I might go for it...sheesh!

I've always thought that a no-division round robin, with one or two permanent rivals (to preserve natural rivalries like Miami-FSU; Clemson-Tech [yes, I'd keep that one]; NC-NC State) would have been better from a competition standpoint. We'd play other conference teams more evenly, even if we played most of our current division rivals a little less frequently.
Seems to me it would also better guarantee that the two best teams play for the conference championship.
Not that I think it will ever happen, of course. It won't.
