I've never understood...

Why South Carolina refer to Clemson fans as "taters" and call Clemson "cow town".

Their mascot is the most redneck mascot in all of sports.

Clemson started as Clemson A&M which stood for Agricultural & Military
Not Mechanical

The 1940 Taps. Clemson Agricultural And Mechanical College, Clemson, South Carolina Hardcover – 1940
Look it up! The military part did not come about until WWII. And no, I was not a student then, much later, 1965.

It's really quite funny.

They call us stupid taters, yet our SAT scores are better. What would that make them?

Ignorant, deluded, redneck inbreds.***

It's laughable to compare Clemson and SCar's SAT averages.***

Because they think Clemson is in Idaho.

The funny thing to me...

Nov 20, 2016, 8:40 PM

… Is that a land grant university serves the needs of the state, whatever they are. For South Carolina, that would be agriculture, (formerly) textiles, engineering, manufacturing, etc. So by making fun of us for being a land-grant university, they essentially make fun of the whole state in which they call home.

Not exactly the sharpest bunch, are they?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well... I've never understood...

Nov 20, 2016, 10:16 PM

why a coot would think that the term 'tater' would somehow be derogatory to a hard-working and conscientious bunch like us.
I guess it's beneath them to ever get a little dirt under their manicured nails so they think we would be equally averse to the idea.

I just realized my entire premise is flawed...
I based my entire analysis on the assumption "a coot would think".
