Why South Carolina refer to Clemson fans as "taters" and call Clemson "cow town".
Their mascot is the most redneck mascot in all of sports.

Look it up! The military part did not come about until WWII. And no, I was not a student then, much later, 1965.

father-in-law graduated in 1922 and is in TAPs in uniform. It was military before World War I.

… Is that a land grant university serves the needs of the state, whatever they are. For South Carolina, that would be agriculture, (formerly) textiles, engineering, manufacturing, etc. So by making fun of us for being a land-grant university, they essentially make fun of the whole state in which they call home.
Not exactly the sharpest bunch, are they?

why a coot would think that the term 'tater' would somehow be derogatory to a hard-working and conscientious bunch like us.
