Bottle caps removed from drinks at Camping World Stadium

Dec 4, 2016, 6:16 PM

Can someone explain something to me. At Camping World Stadium, I went and bought Sherry and I two bottles of Pepsi. Well, first of all they were out of diet Pepsi, so I got an bottled water. But when I went to pay for them, the cashier said she had to remove the bottle caps. I gave her a strange look then took our drinks back to Sherry in the stands. Well it didn't take long before both drinks were knocked over and we barely drunk any of our drinks, which a cap could have prevented. That's the reason I by bottle drinks at stadiums.
Can anyone explain this lunacy to me? Why on earth would they remove the caps?

My guess is to prevent bottles from being thrown on the field. A full bottle is heavy and can be thrown a long way. No cap on the bottle prevents it from being thrown a long distance.
They go us mixed up with coot fans who do throw objects on the field.

They told us it was because people were flicking the caps on the field and they were preventing that which is pretty dumb.

We bought a 6 PK of Bud Light in Cans and they did not -

open them. That was a $60.00 six pack, so we had no intention of throwing them on the FIELD either ! :) :)

PS: It was great to head back to SC and see all the Flags Flying and the Decals flying in Victory

of our ACC Championship! Great Stadium, Great Weather, Great Venue for the Championship. But I

still like Charlotte better. Maybe we can get back there next year.

Tell the ACC that bottle caps are being discriminated against and not allowed to enter the stadium. It's 2016 and we should be way beyond this, right? Time to find another venue.

Had the same thing at Turner Field a couple years ago......

Dec 4, 2016, 6:30 PM

And no one there would throw anything on the field.....

Same thing happened to me in Charlotte last year. I was curious about the reason.

They did that crap at Georgia Southern Football games as well. I told them if I can't have my cap then keep the drink. Just stick a cap in your pocket and when they take your cap off pull yours out and screw it on in front of them. I was told they started that because the students were throwing them at the opossing team.

They should confiscate batteries from NC State fans then.***

Yea, not happy about that. When I attempted to throw my full bottle onto the field it unfortunately didn't make it due to that stupid bottle cap rule! I was foiled again!

Kidding!

to prevent the mixology of ye old mini liquor bottles....

the Georgia Dome really tried [unsuccesfully] to keep me from mixing some rum into a coke back in the Peach Bowl a couple of years ago.

Seems to me

Dec 4, 2016, 6:46 PM

Seems to me if I wanted to throw a bottle on the field, I could bring in an empty bottle with cap, fill it in the restroom, and save $5. If you buy a car, they generally don't take the tires off. Anyway, $11 worth of drinks got spilled and wasted because of this terrible and paranoid rule.

The real crime was that we paid $5.50 for a bottle of Pepsi***

Some sort of fundraiser for the ACC?! Maybe Swoff had a backup plan to the bathroom fiasco.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That Is a pretty wide-spread practice.

Dec 4, 2016, 9:33 PM

They don't want people throwing them (the bottles) full and less likely to have that happen if they are opened. I imagine you were going to drink it so it should not be a big deal.

Remember how you wanted to throw something when Dorial was ejected?

Dec 5, 2016, 12:30 AM

That's when I saw the wisdom in the preplanning and taking of caps ;)

(Yes, I see it was legit by definition, but no replay at the game)
