they'll get to host more conference tournaments (the conferences generally follow the lead of the NCAA) and NCAA Tournaments. We may even get to see something like the D1 NCAA Tennis Championships in Charleston or the D1 Golf Finals at Harbor Towne.

For 30 years the flag flying on top of our South Carolina state house was the battle flag of the army of Tennessee which also was the the flag adopted by the KKK after the civil war. When the legislature moved the flag off the dome to a more prominent spot where main st tees into Gervais they changed it the the battle flag of the army of Northern Virginia which had at least one SC division and Hampton's calvary regiment in it.
However the issue with the stars and bars in any form is that the white people of the south let the KKK get away with using it to intimidate black people and other races for 100 years or more. when we let the bigots cover the stars and bars with hatred and crap for over 100 years it it too late to speak of its glory the people who saw it then are dead and those that see it now think about at best the segregationists and at worse the KKK.
If you want to speak for southern heritage, you better separate the issue of the flag from the other issues, the flag issue is lost for at least a generation in the haze of hate, bigotry, church burnings and murders.

Bizarre. The flag on the confederate monument was supposed
Jul 9, 2015, 8:59 PM

to be a compromise years ago so it would not be flying over the state house. A shame that so many hate groups adopted it and used it as a terrible symbol.
And I always felt the NCAA overstepped their bounds. They should never been involved in the politics to begin with.

Agree with that but I hope Greenville and Myrtle Beach get a fair chance as ACC Baseball sites and NCAA basketball might come back to Greenville as well.

I agree with your assessment. Why did the State of South Carolina's attorney General did not file suit against the NCAA for restraint of Trade I don't know. This kind of garbage is what propagated secession and the Civil War in the first place. Of course, today's historians have rewritten history and told & retold the lie(s) enough that there was only one reason that the war was fought.

tournaments at pre-determined sites in SC until they apologize for meddling in affairs that in no way are part of their purview. Same goes for the ACC.

Okie dokie, I am good with that. Now if we can garner up some "minority support" to return "prayer" back into our schools and put our focus towards someone that can "help" us we will all be Mack Daddy's.

A long overdue action. The NCAA commenting carries about as much weight as a Sepp Blatter lecture on ethics and integrity.

Yep, we landed Boeing, Volvo, and Charleston is rated the #1 tourist destination in US & Canada. The NCAA & NAACP boycott's were a joke.

The state still lost 10's of millions that we could have had over a flag. Sure South Carolina is booming, but now we can do a little better.

I've always wondered.... Is there a ban is Mississippi?
Jul 13, 2015, 3:20 PM

If they imposed a ban on SC for having the flag on state grounds Mississippi should have a ban as well. Although, it's probably not an issue because nobody wants to go to Mississippi.
