Are double headers common in softball?

Seems our softball team plays a ton more games than the baseball game.

Softball: First game on 2/7. Already played 18 games

Baseball: First game on 2/14. Only played 8 games

Not really a much shorter game. They do play 7 innings unless the mercy rule is in effect. It's just that in softball the pitchers are not limited on how many pitches they can throw and how often. Baseball has both a limit on pitches they will allow a pitcher throw and how long between pitching they have to wait. It's all in the motion of the pitching. Overhanded pitching (baseball) in not a natural movement to throw. Whereas underhand (Softball) is a natural movement and doesn't tend to tear joints up like throwing overhand. Thus the pitchers can play multiple games. I remember a couple years ago where I believe the Washington pitcher threw over 300 pitches in a matter of 2 DAYS.
