Jersey Number Selections for New Recruits

So I can't help but notice that many of the new recruits had photo sessions with numbers already reserved for current Tigers.

When do the new players select their numbers? I'd imagine prior to the Spring Game, right?

Any insight into this would be helpful. Thanks and Go Tigers!

Thank you, I must have missed this. I wonder who the last "high profile" WR to wear an 80-89 number was? Seems like it has been a while.

Thanks again.

Last one would have to be Aaron Kelly...

Before that, you are going back to the 90s.

really has changed over the years. I was a WR in HS, #89 in 10th, 11th and 12th grade (#35 fullback in 9th). All the receivers were 80-89. We did not have any number in the 90's either so I was always the last name in the program roster.

It's definitely changed. 1-19 has become the desired numbers for the "skill" guys and the occasional defensive end/linebacker that could get their hands on a low number.

I don't care about what numbers people choose, but I always find it funny when a very large player has a low number. Like one year Tennessee's two starting DTs were Khalil McKenzie who wore #1 and Shy Tuttle who wore #2 and it was about 650 lbs of beef wearing low numbers. It just never looked right to me.

I wonder what number Justyn Ross will wear... Tee Higgins already has #5!

Probably won’t be on the field the same time as TLaw, so no problem

Is with all these lineman wanting single digit numbers, that we have to start giving Qbs
numbers like, 75, 70, 99, etc...
