Awesome news. I hope he puts some pressure on the starters

Having someone come in and jockey for their spot may be just the kick in the tail they need to work harder.

The entire secondary except for Blanks is up for grabs

Smith seems to have a good hold on the SS spot but if Kearse shows out that may not be as secure as he hopes. Also we can't for get about Ronald Geo. He came in highly rated and I heard he was very consistent during his RS year and that he could push for PT in the safety position.

I would think w a new position coach all the spots are up for grabs. even Blanks though I wouldn't expect him to have an issue

The FS spot is all but his in all honesty

I've heard his cemented himself back there and has helped raise not only the talent but the demeanor of the secondary. I think of it kind of like when we had DMac back there a number of years ago. Knowing that you have a ball hawking safety at your back who is also a leader helps the confidence of the corners

Trying not to get too excited about all this good news. I'd like to predict a 41-0 beat down of the dogs right now.

I would love to see our corners be able to do to Georgia was FSU's corners did to Sammy last year so our front can make Gurley a non factor.
I'm having visions of lots of stalled bulldog drives.

If our secondary can make a solid statement against thuga with a dang good QB. That will force OC's to scrape their offensive plans they already plan to run against us, I do believe.

This is what we need more of on this team

I'm not talking about the fact that he's a 5 star recruit. I'm talking about the kid's work ethic. He's hungry. He WANTS that starting job, and he's putting in the work to get it. Hanging out with older players, watching film, challenging himself by covering our best wide-outs. That's a heck of a work ethic. Every other player on the team should be like this kid.

I'm sure our guys are doing the very best with the talent level each of them have. I believe that the slacking days are over under Dabo's rule. Personally I feel that the Clemson Tigers are lucky that Dabo was at the right place at the right time. We have a winner in Dabo!!!

I bet he's not the only one doing everything he can to improve. I think we have a bunch of guys that just bust it everyday on the field, the weight room, film study, even academics. Those that aren't simply won't be on the field because... Wait for it... WE TOO DEEP!!!

Please Hunker Down Defensive Backs.

Breeland and Blanks need to be the rock or the anvil of that defensive backfield. Robinson got burned a lot and didn't tackle well last year and I'm hoping we can see a complete positive turnaround with him. Everyone else in the defensive backfield is a very strong supporting player/cast and have the chance to be more. But Breeland and Blanks, I think, can and need to set that tone for the DB's this season.

I just want our DB's to get ready, hold firm, and not get caught looking at Gurley, and Marshall, eventhough they must help bring them down as well, but because Murry can throw it and light it up if there is time to do so. None of that other stuff. LOL

Blanks and Smith at safety. I heard Smith is possibly the hardest hitter on the team and is like a heat seeking missle on tackles. Then I would hope we start Breeland and (eventually) Alexander at corner. If Jayron puts a little more weight on, I would like him or Steward at the nickel/SAM spot. I think that lineup would be a VAST improvement, even though they probably will suffer some growing pains.
I think our defense will be WAY WAY WAY better this season.

If he can even come close to covering Watkins or Bryant, he needs to start. I haven't seen anyone cover those two guys yet.
Re-watching the Spring Game - those 2 guys are men among boys IMO.

Alex is a tremendous tackler for a corner. I hope he will be the starter at least by the Georgia Tech game. I can envision him coming up and "laying the wood" on their quarterback or halfback.
