Poll: Will Feaster live up to requesting #28?

Aug 24, 2017, 7:08 PM

Not that he is unsuccessful but asking for a retired number sure sets the bar high IMO. Go Tigers!

Of course the Coot responds first...

I don't know Spiller played 4 seasons and Feaster has

Aug 24, 2017, 7:18 PM

Played 1.

The fact your thinking about writing a player off who has somewhere between 36 and 45 games left to play at Clemson says more about you than him.

Read the post...not writing him off. Spiller made an immediate impact although h was behind Davis. I just think if you're going to request to wear a retired number, you better live up to it (i.e. #4). That's all.

he already has

being a fine young man

I say no because cj was nasty right out the gate

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You can't make any comparison.

Aug 24, 2017, 9:24 PM

Put Feaster on a Clemson team from 10 yrs ago and then you may have something. His lack of production to this point says more about how far our program has come than it does about Feaster.

So yes, I'll take Feaster on the bench and a quality Nat Champ winning program over Spiller trying to carry the team to an ACC title.

And lets be clear, CJ was a program changer for us. Even if Feaster ran for 1200yrds and 15 tds per year he wouldn't match what CJ meant to this program when he arrived.

You made the case for Feaster NOT being deserving of the 28 & didn't even realize it. 10 years ago Spiller made an impact with far less talent around him. Right now Feaster is a roll player at best

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If that's how you read it so be it. My point is more

Aug 25, 2017, 2:52 AM

to say we had no option but to play CJ. I loved James Davis, but where would he land on this current depth chart? That is to say our team was going only as far as CJ took us.

This team is loaded. CJ Spiller would not be the hero he is to Clemson fans if he were a rising sophomore this year bc if all thw othwr talent and depth. He was and is a special player, but he means that much more on a mediocre team.

James Davis would easily be the starter

Based on Coach Elliot's decision, # 28 has some work to do, and in a hurry!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When he's been given a chance in games

Aug 24, 2017, 9:19 PM

He's shined

just like stoudt beating out Watson in practice, ............then games rolled around.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think he is going to be great. I have seen flashes. He had

the top per carry average last year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Completely different situation

Aug 24, 2017, 9:29 PM

Spiller got here and also split carries with James Davis despite being the most talented offensive player. Spiller also really bloomed into the untouchable APB his senior year.

Our offense/team is WAY more talented across the board now than when Spiller was here. Give Feaster time, he will shine eventually.

1) I never thought the # should have been retired, but that's me.
2) If Feaster had been needed as "The Guy" last year, he would have played, gained valuable experience and been fine, much like Wayne from year 1-2.
3) He will come in, and he will make plays this year.
4) As to living up to #28 see #1. CJ was a really good player, and a game changer, but not in my top 3 for Tiger RBs. But as the # is retired, to answer your question, no, he won't be CJ v.2. With a guy like Lawrence coming in, I don't see coaches leaning on the running game quite the same as we had to back then.

Good response but I disagree...spiller is certainly in the top 3. I think Feaster can be a great back. I just think he put himself in a difficult position by taking a retired number. Go Tigers!

Spiller averaged 5.9 yards per carry during his career.

Feaster is currently averaging 6.0 yards per carry after 1 season.

How about revisit this discussion after another three years.
