Hey David....

What do you make of this whole UBooster thing? I just don't see how this isn't some kind of violation of NCAA rules.
To me, its just a gambling website that uses the emotions of recruiting to lure people into giving money, which they could already do on their own if they choose to. Furthermore, money is taken from my donation (15%) before it goes to the athletic department....what a scam! This thing stinks, why not just give directly to the athletic department and leave all the gambling out of it?
Thoughts?

This is bigger than just my opinion. This is a slippery slope that could open up a bigger can of worms for college football recruiting. Do you really not see the issue at hand here?

I neutral so far... I wanna see how it plays out. I kinda feel like the recruits aren't really going to care that much, and that'll be the biggest inhibitor to Uboosters success... "What, I don't get any money? Who cares then..."
But it brings in money to the AD and Clemson overall, especially from a demographic that may not be giving a lot, then sure why not. I, for one, will not be using it or pledging anything.

I'm not the only one who reads these posts, you know.
I just don't like the idea of a website profiting on the premise of appearing to have a say in recruiting

Just my opinion

While I don't guess I understand all of the workings, I just don't see how this is a good idea for anybody. Nikki and I were talking last night, and we brought his up as an example that goes beyond the "gambling" part of it....Let's suppose this is in place and Clemson boosters donate $10,000 to the Mark Fields fund over the first three days. Then the Texas bluebloods and oil guys get involved, and they all pledge $100K each. Then it just becomes a bidding war, and a recruit is left feeling like one school wants him more because of the cash layout. Not good. And of course, at some point, some recruit is gonna take the schools to court to get "their money." They will argue that if that much money came into the school because of them, they deserve a cut. And they might be right...just a bad situation all the way around.

That's a rhetorical question, and one rooted in a cliche at that. I'm disappointed in you.
