schools in the country, Louisville is ranked 176th. Clemson is ranked 74th. In comparison, UofSuCk is ranked 118th, which is way better than Louisville. Imagine going to a "college" that is ranked 68 spots behind the coots.
There's just no way those mouth breathers can compete with our guys on the court tonight, they can't even tie their own shoes.

Good stuff, GWPT, and I agree. As an aside, UGA is 15th: https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/top-public

Your football rankings and academics are nearly identical.
Not many places top 15 in both.

winning record against a team I don’t even play every year. You can bet that Bama wasn’t thinking about their overall record against us when we beat them 44-16 in the NC game. That just shows the difference between a championship program and the fan of a program that is always on the outside looking in.

in the rankings these last few years? We were top 20 in public schools/top 60 overall, now we are barely in the top 30/70s.
I know it's not based on the quality of students, because Clemson continues to be more competitive based on the number and caliber of students.
I'm guessing it's something else...

We didn't cheat to improve rankings.

But I will freely admit that decisions were made with an awareness of how they might impact the rankings.
I don't see a problem with this, provided that it was done ethically and without compromising the educational experience for students.

"Cheating" may have been hyperbole, but the actions taken

or at least the actions that were alleged to have been taken were borderline unethical, primarily manipulating the financial reporting.
And how do you define "compromising the educational experience for students?" Forcing good students to go elsewhere for their education because the school raised their admission standards for full time students for the sole reason of getting a better ranking seems to have compromised the educational experience for students.

Yes, alleged is the key word in your post.

I don't buy those accusations.
Clemson didn't artificially raise admission standards. Clemson simply chose the best students from the pool of applicants who applied. Since the quality of Clemson's applicant pool rose, so did the academic requirements for getting accepted into Clemson.
I think that's exactly how it should be. Clemson's job is to educate students, with preference for those from South Carolina. Clemson's job isn't to accept every student who wants to be at Clemson simply because they really want to go to Clemson, or because their grand-pappy went to Clemson. With many thousands of applications, the process is - and should be - numbers-driven, with the goal of accepting the best and brightest.
The number of students who applied and were accepted, as well as the grades and SAT scores of those who applied and were accepted, are tracked in detail by every school, including Clemson. To suggest that Clemson manipulated those numbers on purpose, just to improve the US News & World Report Ranking, is a serious accusation. And it's one I have a hard time believing.

but there are certain things that are not mere allegations. Such as manipulating the financial reporting to make it look better for rankings and for no other reason. Also, I'm going from memory, but didn't Clemson also give graduates money for them to donate back to the school so they could raise the percentage of alumni donations?
