Once more on the Beasley penalty

Using this YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbAse4HVxc8), take a look at two plays that occurred just two downs about.

First is the reaction by Grady Jarrett on his 1st down play (00:15:32--00:15:40)

Second is the reaction by Vic Beasley on his 3rd down play
(00:16:40-00:16:58)

Is there any significant different between these two? To me you either call everything like this, or nothing.

double throat slash that it should be a 15 yard penalty. I agree that all throat slashes should be called but unfortunately they are not. There are way too many that are not called. Bray had a bad one for UT a couple of years ago that was not called.

The officials in the Orange Bowl were horrible even with me agreeing with the 15 yards against Vic.

do not agree.... but what is needed is a firm understanding of all the various forms of "slashing".. very hard to tell what is bad and what is OK

Jarrett's was done noticeably lower away from the throat. Though I'm sure that chest slashing will be a penalty soon as well.

It shouldn't be a penalty at all. Too subjective. Stick to hits out of bound, face masks, etc. It' as bad as legislating "hate speech"! Take this one away from the refs, please!

I've always ? a judgement call, never should an opinion call be called
NCAA wants to focus more on the safety of players, Holding-Face Mask-Cut Blocks-Late Hits should be called and many are missed even when a Ref could have seen it
