I made an error in my ratings this week. Corrected:

The gist of it is that the opponents for last week were not input into the point differential side of the ratings only. So fixing that made a slight change. A few teams switched spots from what I posted this morning, most notable #3 and #4.
Rank | Pvs | Team | W-L | PDiff | SOS |

Regardless of conference or SOS, shouldn't an undefeated team from a Power 5 conference automatically be in the playoff?
I understand that if they win out they'll move up.

I don't think anything should be automatic.

But I do believe FSU should be in, and will be in if they win out.

including just getting smoked 30-0 to previously unranked and 5-loss Arky. How can that be, does their 1 win vs. a ranked opponent really count that much?

Let me explain something to you.
Nov 24, 2014, 3:38 PM
|
|
If you're in the SEC, you're automatically tied for #1 when the season starts, and as long as you don't lose to anyone outside the conference, the lowest you can be ranked in #14 in the nation, which coincidentally, is how many SEC teams there are. I'm just shocked that you don't have this very basic understanding of math, and how it relates to college football rankings.

They still have a very high strength of schedule and point differential. Obviously there are a bunch of teams rated below them here that you would less rather play right now.

Heaven! I think Memphis might have even gone to a bowl game one time and stuff! Playing them is like wearing a suit made of meat in a pen full of rabid pit bulls!

hahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahaha. Just kidding. Memphis and Marshall would be on par with those stellar schools like Missouri, Florida, and Vanderbilt. THOSE SCHOOLS ARE FOR DUMMIES.

THEY PLAY IN ONE OF THE WORST FOOTBALL CONFERENCES IN THE WORLD! THE B1G IS A JOKE! THEY LOST TO VIRGINIA TECH WHO JUST LOST TO WAKE FOREST 6-3 IN DOUBLE FREAKING OVERTIME!
This is why I generally don't look at your ratings.

I don't think that first game loss should hurt at all. They are a much improved team from the first week. In fact, I see them making it to the 4 team playoff.

Navy first game.
They beat a bad Penn State team in double overtime and Penn State just lost to the worst team in the B1G, Illinois.
Their only quality wins are Michigan State and Minnesota.
Michigan State got smoked by Oregon and their best win is Nebraska who is not very good.
Minnesota got smoked by TCU and lost to Illinois and their best win is against Nebraska.

and they've been blowing most people out (as the #3 point differential attests).
The Big Ten, particularly the East, is probably a little better than you give it credit for, at least in these ratings.
