How come when you buy something online, your card is charged in a nanosecond but when you return the item online refunds "will be processed in 10-15 days" even though they've received it back.
How much interest are they really making on this holding onto the cash?

Now this is a certified bank check, so you know the funds are there.
7-10 days until it clears. They claim to report it to the IRS, verify funds, etc. Truth is they want that $1.37 interest.

But the teller can also call the other bank and verify. They want the interest but are also not interested in letting you check kite their ###.
Source-I worked as a bank teller and in the proof room.

on a piece of paper, I'm returning the physical item I purchased. If I went into a store and returned an item they would put it back on my card on the spot, not sure why online plays by such different rules

Amazon makes in credit interest per year is prolly named Bezos. I'd imagine they wouldn't like that figure to be public knowledge.

company did the same thing, "accidentally" overcharged me and then said the credit to my card should hit in the next "5-10 days"
