Jun 6, 2013, 1:33 PM

Just curious but does anybody remember Harvey White, Lownd Shingler, and Joe Anderson or a DE name Ivan Southerland ?
Thanks. Go Tigers!!!!!!!

I think Harvey was before Lownes. Both were great QB's. I believe Shingler was the QB in the BlueBonnet Bowl in 59 and led us to victory! Remember Joe Anderson but not Sutherland.

They all were from Greenwood High School and played for Pinky Babb.

The first three were quarterbacks from Greenwood with Joe Anderson in the 60's and Shingler and White in the late 50's. Big Ivan Sutherlan graduated from Greenwood High in 1967 and he along with another player from that team whose last name was Harvey went on to play for Frank Howard. They were both linemen as I remember....

Speaking of linemen, Don Chuy was a beast...I heard he ate with his fingers and did not use a knife and fork...great pro too...

He knocked somebody out on a kickoff & game was delayed

for aq long time whoile they tried to wake the guy...finally came around. Chuy, Cordeleone, and Harry O.
were my favorite linemen.

true because Frank Howard gave Pinky Babb jr. a scholly in thanks. Pinky never played in a varsity game. After Joe Anderson, there was Jim Parker, Jimmy Bell, and Jimmy Addison. There was one more in that group but can't recall his name.

Pinky Babb was the father and long-time coach at GHS. Brush Babb was his son and did probably get a "thank you" scholly from Frank Howard for the long run of good QBs from the Emerald City.....

That was in the days that players played Offense and Defense. Had to have two or three full teams ready to play each week.

Harvey White graduated in '58. Did not play in '59 Bluebonnet bowl. Shingler was the QB in Bluebonnet.

Daddy took my brother and me to meet the team coming back from the Bluebonnet Bowl in Greenville. Still have autographs from Lownes Shingles and more. He committed suicide later in his life.

I remember every one of them.. Harvey and Lownes were Q/b when I was there

Harvey White graduated from Greenwood High in 1956.

Jun 7, 2013, 1:58 PM

I graduated from Anderson the same year. Shingler came later and they shared some time at Clemson. Harvey was one of the first people drafted by the Boston Pats when the old AFL started, though he never played.
