This is true, but it doesn't mean that people have to like it though. That's the beauty of the free market. You can do whatever you want, but so can your customers/fans.

They don't play the national anthem where I work.

They play it where I work. We stand, we salute, even civilians that come by there are courteous enough to stop their cars while the National Anthem is playing / and Colors are posted. But I guess their is a lot more caring when you have actual skin in the game. I for one used to like CK, and hoped he could fix his various issues and succeed. Now? Not so much.

This will not end well for him

Aug 27, 2016, 1:33 PM [ in reply to Everyone has a right to protest.*** ]

Of course everyone has the right to "protest"...not the point.

He protests what? The flag..the anthem..the country? He makes absurd millions from the system that operates because of that country and flag, and he has the nerve to claim "oppression"? What does that even mean?

Speaks volumes about his intelligence. This will bring a whole truckload of unnecessary attention and distraction to him and the 'Niners.

Maybe he's not thinking about himself, maybe he's thinking about other people. What a novel idea.

Re: Ok, I get that Colin is protesting for

Aug 27, 2016, 1:59 PM

Black lives matter, but what about the African Americans that died in battle defending the very same flag he is protesting against. How do you think they would feel? Another guy trying to draw attention.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh so he's not "oppressed", but one of the "oppressors"?

Aug 27, 2016, 2:03 PM [ in reply to Re: This will not end well for him ]

Is that your hot-take? He's assuaging his guilt for being an "oppressor" by not standing for the National Anthem and at the same time claiming solidarity with the supposed "oppressed".....but still happily cashing the checks that come directly out of the "oppressed" pockets.

That's some seriously screwed up thinking my friend.

Where did all this oppression talk come from? Here's a clue pal, no one is being "oppressed" in the USA. These are terms the anarchist movements are throwing around to stir the pot.

We have anarchist movements ? Where ?
When I was a kid it was the punk rock thing to claim that you were an anarchist ...but does anyone outside of a few thousand fringe lunatics really believe that total anarchy would be better than a true system of governance ?
Heyall..I'd take socialism before anarchy .

There is a difference between honoring your nation

Aug 27, 2016, 2:35 PM [ in reply to Re: This will not end well for him ]

...and disliking some things about your nation. There are non-discriminatory laws in the books, based on our country's being a nation based on the rule of law. And we have separate executive and judicial branches to execute and judge those laws. Despite concerns we have with all of our branches of government, rule of law/our constitution/principles still make the USA superior to other countries.

There are many, many more law-abiding citizens in this country than are not. They are much more representative and an integral component of our country than those who are not law-abiding. As long as Man is sinful, having law-breaking citizens will always be the case. Last I checked, we ALL are sinners. So, it shouldn't be surprising if we have to deal with law-breaking members of entities ranging from hospitals to corporations to Wall Street to government agencies. The laws are there for law-abiding people to fight the law-breakers.

And not every behavior or act that is alleged or protested to be illegal is actually illegal. Our country right now is in a state of assuming guilt before proving guilt. Sometimes there is guilt, and sometimes there is not. It would/will be disastrous for us to disrespect or dismiss the rule of law.

Our country and its constitution and principles are far bigger than any shortcomings in human behavior. It is even bigger than any systematic breakdown. The country will survive only when others love, protect, and honor its principles by voting for what and who is right and being a citizen who clearly supports the country itself, despite its imperfections. I know of NO country that consists of human beings that are perfect. A country built upon standards and laws that are good and consistent is far more fair than one built upon the whims of a dictator.

Protesting has its purpose for many things, but protesting the country itself, symbolized by the flag and honored by the pledge, is far different and is, fortunately, still passionately opposed by the majority of Americans.

You seem calm, rationale and not angry? What's up with that?

Aug 27, 2016, 5:31 PM

Far too few can articulate an argument without attacking those who think differently.

Well lets look at things from ole Colin's perspective. He may have a rough life? Lets see.

Millionaire in his 20s. Works 6 months a year for roughly 10 million +/-. Is loved and adored by thousands of fans. Oh, lets not forget he lives in Cali, and I would venture to say he has his pick of virtually any young woman he'd like to bed.

Yep...Ole Colin has a rough and oppressed life. Man, I would hate to be in his shoes!

Tommie Smith how that ended for them. Whether you agree with Kapperdick or not, he's screwed in the court of public opinion. Btw, he's one of Harbaugh's brilliant decisions!

Re: He should have asked John Carlos and........

What Colin does not understand or refuses to understand is that 4 percent of the population that is killed by police is black, a small percentage considered that white and Latino's make up the majority.
Just like hands-up don't shoot. After a DOJ investigation that was proven that it never happened like the BLM would lead you to believe.
He has every right to protest but he needs to get his facts straight! Maybe he should be more concerned with the amount of black on black crime but then again, that would not fit the narrative!

I've never met anyone who says "if you don't like it, leave" who wasn't a mouthbreather.

I'm sure the San Francisco folks are just up in arms about this.

He puts the franchise in a bad spot. If they cut because he is not that good, he can say
they cut him because of not standing for the national anthem. Looks like they might
be stuck with him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh we are noticing don't worry Colin...

Aug 27, 2016, 5:27 PM

I would say being cut is the least of his problems. If I were him, I would be more concerned about the guys he is going to be playing against taking care of this "situation" on their own, without the help of public opinion.
