OSU student enrollment is 65,000..about # fans in OB stadium

imo, even though it was stated attendance was 72,000. Many empty seats all around..especially in upper decks..and it was apparent too that there were clusters of fans not in either teams colors which might mean they were groups of military or boy scouts or ? that used the returned (but paid for) tix.

Attendance should have been accurate.

Tickets were scanned. So, 72K entered the stadium but didn't necessarily stick around to watch the entire game. Also, a lot of those non-team-color folks were using tickets given to them by corporations who tend to buy up blocks of tickets and give them to customers or employees.

and Brad Nessler (who I like to hear call games) stated it was a packed house, but as the camera behind the goal post showed the ball coming down to the return man, the opposite horseshoe upper deck was clearly empty.

Attendance at bowl games, even BCS games, has been down for the last decade, mostly because of ridiculous ticket prices.

Only two BCS bowls have been "packed" each year, the Rose Bowl, and the BCS title game.
