New Jersey

Mar 28, 2020, 5:24 PM

In New Jersey, the number of COVID-19 cases has spiked dramatically. Meanwhile, Federal Judge Analisa Torres, an Obama appointee, ordered the release of an illegal alien in ICE detention who had already tested positive for the virus. What could go wrong?

Those Obama “judges” will be Obama’s fault for a long time.

If this is what you're referring to, she did not order anyone who has tested positive released. She ordered some ICE detainees released because of the difficulty of distancing them from other inmates who had tested positive. In the meantime, the state of NJ is,unbidden by any judges, releasing boo coo low-level offenders in hopes of slowing the spread of covid-19 in jails and prisons.

One of those 10 detainees had a confirmed case of the virus. After being released, he collapsed after walking one block and began vomiting. Buzzfeed News interviewed the guy, and that interview is reported on their website.

Two Points....

Mar 29, 2020, 8:24 AM [ in reply to Re: New Jersey ]

1. If an ICE detainee crossed the border illegally and has tested positive for COVID-19 they should be quarantined. I don't care if the NJ State National Guard has to put up a GP medium tent city in a fenced in field with armed guards in order to get the required spacing - these infected illegals should not be released out into the general public under any circumstances. Once the illegal aliens have recovered and tested negative for COVID-19 they must be immediately deported.

2. If the ICE detainee crossed the border illegally and has tested negative for COVID-19 they should be temporarily held for immediate deportation on the next thing smoking to their country of origin. Once again, there are plenty of GP Medium tents in the State National Guard inventory if additional space is required.

There are low tech but effective solutions to these problems of space/distancing - that is not the real problem. The real problem is that there is a lack of "want to" among the political leadership in some States when it comes to dealing with illegal aliens.

Can you really trust a state that doesn’t think you are qualified to pump your own gas?

There's enough stress from COVID-19 much less adding inmates back into society to worry about. No matter the reason they are in jail, let them stay where they are. They are in jail for a reason.
