NC State/North Carolina game.

Apr 29, 2013, 3:32 PM

I have read that the final game that was rained out yesterday will not be made up. How does that effect the final standings in each division? Something does not add up.

Matters very little for UNC

If they just keep winning they will be the overall #1 seed in ACC and NCAA tourneys. I think it helps NCST in the ACC standings but will be one less game against the #1 team in the country to help boost their RPI for NCAA seeding. It remains to be seen if either is affecting too much though.

Lol unc don't need any help. This could also hurt ncs at the end also. It is what it is.

Gives the advatange to NC State based on winning %

Say we both win out in conference. They'd finish at 21-8 and we'd finish 21-9, half a game behind them in the standings. Not making up the 3rd game essentially nullifies our tie breaker against them and forces us to win one more conference game than them.

This is true

but our coaches have said that we would love to win the division but we are really trying to get in good position for the NCAA tourney. I'm not sure this helps them in that regard.

I removes a likely loss for the wuffies...

...and forces both us and FSU to have an additional win to clinch the division title.

That said, there was no way they were going to get that game in yesterday, and nowhere to put the game in their schedules now.

It is what it is.

In the long run, our closing stretch against Maryland, FSU and the mid-week games remaining mean a whole lot more than what the Wuffies and Heels do.

Just keep winning tigers !!! From what I heard more wolfpack fans wanted to play the game than unc fans. Heel fans cannot understand why they are hated.
