NC Defense last night

Aug 30, 2013, 11:51 AM

The front line avg. 270. I thought they looked a little skinny all around, Fedora did say they were young though. Fedora might have the Tommy Bowden mind-set and recruit the stud skill players only.

Where were the stud skill players?

UNC's secondary was awful. I like Davis and their TE and that's about all I saw.

Yep, USuC's offensive line average 50 more lbs per player...***

I thought SCar OL won the game for them--they manhandled
UNC's defense.

UNC defense was bad across the board.. no position of

strength anywhere. Also the couldn't get the ball down the field at all, partly because SCs Dline is good and UNC knew Renner wouldn't have much time, but also because his arm is surprisingly weak. I didn't see a lot of Renner on TV last year, but i didn't realize just how little arm strength he has. He struggles on any throw to the boundaries and anything down the field more than 20 yards. He's also awful when forced to move even the slightest bit out of the pocket.

Davis is good, UNC o-line was pretty decent, and their RBs are serviceable though they really lack the big play ability with Bernard.

I don't want to grossly overreact after 1 game, but i think they are solidly behind Miami and VT in the coastal, and that defense will never get off the field against GT, so i have a hard time seeing the holes finishing better than 4th over there.
