My take on Notre Dame

There's too much football left to be played to worry about the playoffs, but since ND seems to be the thorn everyone wants to put in our side, I thought I'd check some stats. I figure midway through the regular season, the stats mean a little something.
ND schedule to date doesn't impress much.
Michigan - Won 24-17. Mich. has beaten W. Mich., SMU, Nebraska, Northwestern (by 3) and Maryland Ball State - Won 24-16. Indiana beat BS 38-10 and N. Ill. beat BS 24-16 Vandy - Won 22-17. scarolina beat Vandy 37-14 Wake - Won 56-27. 63-3, enough said Stanford - Won 38-17. Utah beat Stanford 40-21 Va. Tech. - Won 45-23. ODU beat VaTech 49-35
I'm not going to brag about our schedule, but I do think the win at Kyle Field is better than any of the above.
Some mid-year stats (National Rank in parenthesis)
Passing O.......CU 250.2 YPG (54)....ND 246 YPG (60) Rushing O......CU 280.8 YPG (5).....ND 195.7 YPG (47) Total O...........CU 531 YPG (8).......ND 442 YPG (46) Passing D.......CU 152.8 YPG (7).....ND 229.5 YPG (72) Rushing D......CU 108.3 YPG (17)....ND 127.8 YPG (39) Total D..........CU 261 YPG (3).......ND 357 YPG (49) Sacks By........CU 20 Total (3)......ND 15 Total (33) TFL...............CU 9.7 PG (3)........ND 7.2 PG (31)
I personally don't think it'll come down to ND and us if we both win out, but ND already showed they'll shat the bed when they get placed undeservedly in the championship game based on their name alone. I would take my chances today on a 2/3 match-up with the Irish in the semis.
Go Tigers! Beat Bye!

I think you might be selling Michigan short at this point

I think they are going to beat Michigan State and at least one of Wisconsin, Penn State, and Ohio State.

We handled our common opponent a lot more easily than they did. Although they beat up on Wake too, their starters played deep into the 4th and their QB stayed in the whole game. All this will be remembered if it comes down to it.

ND can play the QB switch card though. They have been

much, much better since they replaced Brandon Wimbush with Ian Book. I don't think anyone is going to care that they struggled offensively in their first three games.
That's something that could also work in our favor if our offense continues to look sharp with Trevor Lawrence at QB.

Stats don't matter, like opponents don't matter. TV draw does.

If its 13-0 Clemson and 12-0 ND, they'll get the nod. Now i can't imagine how we get to the point that a 13-0 Clemson isn't in, but if its down to that, its ND.

I think Vandy had ND beat at ND, but dropped the pass for the winning score. I'll have to watch the replay on that game, but Vandy gave them everything they wanted and then some.
Bottom line: ND is not all that great, but for some reason, the ESPN pundits are just drooling over them and are wanting them in the CFP badly. Probably so the committee can pair ND with Bama so Bama can have an easy warm-up game before playing us in the final.
