Mumbette's mom died yesterday.

They were estranged, but it still comes at a terrible time emotionally for her.

I guess it's OK to share a darkly funny story to fill in the corners of understanding for those who are reading:
A few years ago, this woman was in a nursing home (she is only 17 years older than Mumbette), and almost set herself and her room on fire. She was lighting a joint while wearing a oxygen mask, and it went just like a YouTube video.

Mumbette was in the 10th grade, and was buying groceries

across town so that people wouldn't see her using food stamps. She applied for the food stamps, and paid the bills as best she could, because her mom drank her social security benefits or whatever money she received.
Mumbette came home from the last day of school before Christmas break, and her mother had left her a note saying that she was going to Florida "for a while." No money, no presents, no nothing.
Mumbette raised herself and her little brother from a very young age.

Her brother is a great guy (Phil Gentry) who writes articles on hunting and fishing for all sorts or publications. He has an outdoorsman's show on a local AM station on Saturday mornings. Just to add the cherry on top of all of this, he was diagnosed with leukemia earlier in the year, but it seems to be responding very well to treatment.
Mumbette just can't catch a break.

When Wifeof was 7 her mom passed from leukemia then her grandmother (her dad's mom) died from it about 5 years ago.

It's pretty obvious that she is a person of amazing resolve and strength to begin with, and that's a blessing. Few people have what it takes to turn those cards into a winning hand, and you can tell her for me that she is officially one of my heroes.
