The lawyer is prolly a family friend doing something in legal speak referred to as "Pro Bono".

LOL...of course he does...

because you always need a lawyer when you haven't done anything wrong or you don't have anything to hide.

The same agent who loaned him the money is probably footing the legal bills.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the NCAA banned substances policy. The framework is mirrored by sports organizations around the world and is on pretty solid ground.

The players compensation rules are garbage. Allowing coaches and universities to reap obscene windfalls while players are forced to settle for scholarships + stipends is nuts. This system will be torn up by the roots in short order.

Young says the loan was provided by a family friend they met when he was a junior or senior in high school (in other words was still a prized recruit ).
That was just a couple of years ago. This was not a long term family friend helping out. You have to admit it’s highly suspicious.
The NCAA rules are as much about keeping it a level playing field, rather than simply an act of keeping money out of athlete’s pockets. I don’t want to want an open season of boosters sticking a handful of sweaty cash into prospect’s pockets. Sure, it happens. But we can’t allow ourselves to condone buying high school players.
