COLUMBIA Funeral service for James Dalton Head III, 68, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Union United Methodist Church, with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.


Mr. Head died Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late James Dalton Head Jr. and Ruth Cowsert Head. He graduated from Greenville High School and Clemson University and was a member of IPTAY for 48 consecutive years. He also graduated from S.C. Bankers School and retired as a Vice President from Bank of America following 39 years of service. An active member of Union UMC, he was a teacher and member of the Joy Sunday School class and served on various committees at the church.


Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Pamela Stamey Head; daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth “Buffy” Murphy (William) of Irmo; son, Samuel Dalton Head (Lindsay), of Irmo; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Murphy, Molly Murphy, McLaine Murphy, Hollis Head, Banks Head, and another granddaughter due in May; brother, Thomas W. Head (Carol) of Greenville; sister, Kathy H. Weathers (Bob) of Georgetown, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Jim’s priorities in life were always God, family, and Clemson. The family invites you to wear orange in celebration of his life.


Memorials may be made to Union UMC Building Fund, 7582 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063.

The most amazing uncle a girl could as for! Faith, Family and Clemson! He had a impact on everyone he met! Picture of my daughter holding a picture of them at her first Clemson game(5 month old).
