believes in fundamentals." He will not try to trick anybody"..Well, I think his NFL secondary's 30th place ranking is definite proof of that....

John Hoke's defense < playing with 7 guys on defense

Aug 4, 2015, 8:24 AM

What needs more work?- our healthcare system or their defense? Tough to say. After hearing rumors that Will Muschamp was headed to cootlumbia, feathered folks everywhere got giddy. Instead he headed to Auburn and they lost out. They'd rather have John Hoke. (Who?) That's right, Brady Hoke's brother who was the defensive backs coach for the Chicago Bears last year. And how did John Hoke's pass defense do? 30th in the league. They joined the 1923 Rochester Jeffersons as the only teams in NFL history to allow 50 points in back-to-back games. In fact, during one of those game the Bears were down 42-0 at the half. Great hire clowns.

I though Hoke was a great hire....

It will be great for opponents offensive statistics.

More like spurrier will not hire a personality that will

rival his own. He won't stand for not being completely in control and this will subsequently lead to his downfall as a washed up, bitter old coach that brings his defensive coordinator (to embarrass the hell outof them) to the mic when they struggle. Only yes men take that job.

You have to wonder if, when he took the job, he realized he'd be 2nd fiddle to a woman's basketball coach and having to answer to the baseball coach.

Just FYI

Aug 4, 2015, 9:18 AM

Hoke was Spurrier's DB coach when he won the NC. He was promoted to DC when Stoops left for Oklahoma and fielded one of the nations best defenses while winning two SECCG's. He followed Spurrier to Washington and has spent 12 years in the NFL as a DB coach and though his last year with the Bears there defense was dismal he still had plenty of NFL offers but chose to come here. Hoke is the guy Spurrier wanted from day one and has offered him the job every time he had an opening. He is high on fundamentals and after watching Wards inability to adjust his coaching to his players he is a welcome addition.

If dude had "plenty of NFL offers", he'd still be there. You don't leave the league to come to college to work for a guy near retirement!! That's not hating on spurrier, that's just truth!! Unless his offers were severe demotion offers. At that point, you take whatever you. Can get. That sounds more like what he did .

NFL Waterboy or SCar DC?

Aug 4, 2015, 12:38 PM

They pay is probably about the same..... You can either be around world class athletes or USCjr players.... I think I would stay in the NFL

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Coot dude. Muschamp was the guy Spurrier wanted. He chose

Aug 4, 2015, 10:27 AM [ in reply to Just FYI ]

Auburn.WHy elso do you think Spurrier said he would only coach 2-3 more years. He was trying to recruit Muschamp with another one of his many lies. But, Muschamp knows Lorenzo Mauldin....He didn't fall for it. Now, you and the Coots are paying for it. It's over in Columbia. Over.

Ward couldn't make adjustments because there was nothing to adjust.

LOL...bless your heart....

Aug 4, 2015, 11:04 AM [ in reply to Just FYI ]

So Hoke chose to come to Columbia in spite of having several NFL offers so he could work for a coach who specifically said he was only going to coach two more years? Sounds like a great career move.

Hoke and Spurrier certainly had some success at Florida but with SIGNIFICANTLY MORE talent than ANYTHING you currently have at the University of Second Choice.

I can't tell if you Jock Straps are college football wannabes or world class chefs the way you try to turn chicken **** into chicken salad. Keep spinning it doctor.

We are certainly in roo-ins.

30th in the NFL means the Bears would have been 13th best in the SEC.

:(
