Today may be my worst day ever as a Tiger fan!

Okay so in the grand scheme of things it is not really that big a deal, but today really sucks!
You see 5 years ago today my father, a great Clemson man, passed away. We did not always get along and had many ups and downs throughout my life. The one thing that me, him, and my brother always shared was a love of our Tigers. I remember being woken up at 5 am and thrown into a car on game days to make the trip from Charleston to Clemson for the noon or 1 PM games in the 80s. I remember on away game days, we would get up and work until the game started. Then no matter where we were 10 minutes before game time, we would stop and listen to the game. I remember the many trips to Florida bowl games and New Year’s Eve celebrations at Disney just to be with our Tigers. His love for them was unmatched in the good and bad times! He was there for it all... Well for all of it except this recent streak of success, as he passed before the Tigers played in there 1st CFP matchup against OSU. Man he would have been so proud of them.
Fast forward to this week when I received a call that I had tickets to the ACC championship game. I was so excited as my brother and I were going to attend this monumental game together, on the anniversary of my father’s passing. This could not have been any better!
Then it all came crashing down starting at 1PM yesterday. I received a text from my wife saying our 6 year old had a fever. As the day turned to evening, he began to have more symptoms: coughing, congestion, wheezing. We believed it most likely to be a winter cold that all kids get. We put him to bed, but not before smearing on a 1” thick layer of Vick’s vapor rub on his chest. This morning he woke up a little better, but still with a fever and other symptoms.
However, I woke up with the fever and congestion he had. From 7 to 9 this morning I went back and forth on whether or not I should attend the game, as I am fairly certain it is not COVID related ( my wife had in July, so I know what it looks like). After pondering, I decided that just in case and in the interest of public safety I should not attend.
I texted my brother to let him know I would not make it. To make it worse, he was only going because I wanted to go. Now he will be taking his son, who currently attends Clemson, and I will be sitting at home with a fever. THIS SUCKS!
Go Tigers! I want to see a beating worse than the one we gave them in Texas.

Hope you both feel better soon! A win today will help you with getting better. I'm with you on the loss of your father. My dad and I used to talk after each game. He passed away 8 years ago and also wasn't here to talk to after this great run of success. Go Tigers!!!
