Cancelled DirecTV last night, then they call this morning, begging

me to come back! This month's bill had jumped to $94. This morning, I was offered the same plan I had for $40 per month, for 12 months. Plus, they would send me a $300 Visa gift card and throw in a Genie and free HBO. The cheapest I had ever gotten it before, was $67.
That kinda pisssed me off, so I told her I have already signed up for YouTube Live for $40, and they could just keep their $300 gift card. Damm, I hate how they do business, glad to be rid of them.

Comcast is the same way with me. It seems the new retention business plan is to put your account in a hold when you cancel, then the next day they call you back with a crazy intro price offer. It used to be if you got to retention department they would work with you some. Now it seems they want to keep whatever they can and see who is really bluffing about canceling their service. It should be start low go high for two years if you keep them you go just below your sign up price or something to keep people dedicated and loyal. To late now, I've seen the future with streaming and it's waaay better if you get the right stuff.

I've had the same problem with car insurance companies. They don't offer anything until you leave. They all appear to be more interested in signing new customers than retaining existing customers. I just don't understand that model because it seems to be more expensive to acquire new customers.

Their prices are very competitive! Especially if you have a pretty good driving record and decent credit score!

Direct did the same thing to me. Wanted to add a ridiculous charge and when I canceled, begged and promised me favors with Hiliary to come back. They almost had me with that, but I think I made the right decision to be rid of them.

I had the same experience calling Spectrum. One of the last times, was told my service would normally be north of $250. My last bill was $185 after being at $147 12 months earlier. $185 is than $11,000 over five years. Totally ridiculous. They had no interest in retaining a 19 year customer.

Yea, they did the same thing to me. They called me for weeks after I left them...after going to PS Vue, I don't expect I'll ever return. Streaming TV still isn't perfect, but it's pretty darn good and it's only going to get better.
At least DirecTV is getting on board with DirecTV Now...smart move by them.

company tech support has to do a Bomgar connect to my computer to install new software, and the connect continually kicks out. And the price is terrible for the slow speeds we have.

Just chill, bro. Net neutrality is gone. Your internet bill will quadruple soon.

And since your tv relies on internet access, you’ll pay it.

I ditched Spectrum a couple of weeks ago. January 2017 bill was $147 with no premium movie channels and the March bill was $185. Went up $30 during the past four months. Switched to Play Station Vue 2nd level option at $48 per month. When I turned in the equipment, Spectrum offered a $10 reduction. Couldn't quit laughing at the lady rep. Unfortunately will have to keep their internet service as there's no other good option. Will continue to check out other tv providers as I'll be missing the History and Smithsonian channels.

Watching on laptop and casting to TV, why? With Roku (and streaming service), you can watch all on TV. Much easier.

I like watching it on my laptop. A 15 inch laptop, 30 inches from my eyes, looks bigger than my 55 inch TV, 12 feet from me. And small text scrolling across the bottom of the screen in easier to read. And I have a Smart TV.

Yes, I use Sling. But any streaming service, with Roku stick, will be much cheaper. I am not going to say anymore about "Seniors discount" at $5 or $10 a month for internet. I said enough earlier. I used Netflix, then Hulu, and settled with Sling. I have yet to miss a Clemson FB, BB, and BB game in 2 years with Sling and Roku and still $20.00. I did miss some with Netflix, but they may have improved.

That's the problem with the business model for all these

companies. They rip you off and then after you leave them they decide to show you what the fair price they should have been charging you all along is, and then wonder why you hate them.
It's like the company that pays you half of what you're worth, and then offer you what you're worth after you leave, and then wonder why you feel cheated.

4K is the future but thats some obscene bandwidth. It might not really be all that feasible to stream it.
