From what I've read (haven't spoken to anyone in authority)

its my understanding they're going to strip LJ down nearly to the steel girders to start the rebuilding process. I've not gleaned exactly what the inside will look like--at least I've not seen any renderings yet--but I'll miss the old LJ. I had a ton of fun in there starting from its very first games. Saw Pistol Pete make his homecoming return when LSU visited, Skip Wise's eye-popping one year, all 4 seasons of Tree's career, and all the rest of the Tiger stars and characters too numerous to mention.

Speaking of the girders, in one of my favorite all time games there against Lefty's Terrapins (which the Tigers won), someone hung a huge banner up from the main roof girder proclaiming:

"We Got Abraham, Where's Moses?"

ahh, the memories.....

Used to love Colon Abrahams jump shot from deep in the corner of the court. Today that would be a definite 3 pointer.

*L* Wow, Colon was my little league basketball coach

interesting they are reducing the number of seats. the images suggest students along one side of the court.

I am suprised they are reducing seats. I figured since they

use to use the facilities for concerts (which used extra seating areas for staging), that they would keep it about the same. I know smaller more traditional basketball arenas have struggled with expansions over the years in order keep their more historical architecture.

The open concourse should be interesting.
