Georgia vs. USC this weekend; how far do they fall?
Sep 30, 2012, 1:45 PM
|
|
Do they still get SEC love even after their performances yesterday?
Other than with UGA's freshmen running backs, I've not seen anything from UGA/USC/LSU that's all that impressive.
I hate to see these mid-grade SEC teams drop only 3-4 spots because of conference affiliation. Maybe it's not that they are all so good as much as they are all the same caliber. What was that famous phrase? Parity? That doesn't equate to them all being top-10 teams and one has to lose.
Also, not a Geno Smith fan, but a big fan of WVU's O-line.

I would say that SCjr has the best defense of those three so far. Georgias RBs are good but havent faced a tough run stopping defense. Who knows whats going on at LSU?

and utterly dominated the second half. Say what you like, but they won that game convincingly after a slow start. 17-7 at the half, then 31-0 in the second half. That's halftime adjustments.
I think the game with UGA is a close one, and the winner wins the East.

Plus, playing with a freshman QB. SCAR has played
Sep 30, 2012, 2:13 PM

two of the worst offenses in the SEC, that changes against UGa. Last year, UGA was up and down the field on SCAR. Special teams and turnovers gave SCAR 28 points. Barring that type of debacle, UGA wins by 10 points or more, even at SCAR.
I've been saying all year, you can pass on SCAR. Even most SCAR realist know this. UGA will light them up through the air, and Gurley and Marshall will bust off some big runs.
SCAR is staring 5-3 straight in the face.

Civil Engr, I agree that you can pass on Carolina's defense. Kentucky could have had success if the offensive coordinator would have allowed the freshman quarteback to roll out with the option to pass or run. He remained in the pocket and this did not work. This will be the first game this year where they will face a team that can pass and run the ball. Lorenzo Ward, defensive coordinator, likes to blitz and load the box, with the players that Georgia have I look for the Bulldogs to make a lot of big plays.

Not as far as Clemson, after loosing to FSU. This will be their first game against a ranked opponent. Even with the weak schedule, they will not drop a great deal.

I'm skeptical of the team.

Secondary while not terrible, definitely has shown some vulnerability against lower tier teams. Pass rush has been efficient and the run D has been solid. The offense will not come out guns blazing. I have a feeling Carolina will run the ball from the get-go. UGAy has yet, in two years, have an answer for Lattimore. But we shall see. Needless to say it's going to be a rough one and I hope we can win. At least keep it close lol

Lattimore is not the same RB this year. UGA freshman RB is the real deal but SC has been playing well @ home. It is a toss up.

murray will light up the back 7 of usuc.usuc's good d-line play will wear down, constantly chasing marshall and gurley, allowing murray to rip off some chunk plays downfield when the safeties creep up to help.

If UGA runs through them with Gurley and Marshall like they should, 10-12 spots.

Gurley hasn't taken a huge hit all season so let's see how he will respond once that happens. It will be a close game.

By the end of the year, out of the top 25

The beatdowns will start with Georgia and Dabo will finish off the old ball sack. USuCK is the most overrated team in the secLeast. They'll beat arkansas and wofford and finish 7-5 with a trip to the toilet bowl. Face it, they're not that good. They haven't beaten anybody with a winning record.
They should stop playing 2001 and start playing Tom Petty's Free Fallin', cause that's what's going to happen to them in the polls.

I hope so too but that seems like a real stretch. I could see them winning the rest of their games or losing them.
