I joke about a lot of stuff but this is serious

May 29, 2020, 9:43 AM

My 6 year old daughter has started to develop verbal and physical ticks. Clearing her throat, clicking her tongue, having to do a little hop before she speaks. Every day it seems to change slightly to something else. It isn't that bad in the morning but it gets worse as the day goes on.

I know she has anxiety issues like her mom. She's complete opposite of my son. If you raise your voice to her she comes apart.

I have started to notice though she only does it when she's alone, or around immediate family. If she's around friends, she can control it.

Has anybody ever dealt with this in their children? Is this normal? Is it tourrettes? Or is it just anxiety.

I have ticks as well especially when I'm stressed, but they aren't this noticeable.

Probably just something she's experiencing at her age

I wouldn't get too concerned unless it continues for a long period...probably anxiety over our new circumstances.
Good luck...

Yeah I'm hoping it's just a phase

If this continues into next school year when we're back to normal I'm going to take her to the doctor.

It's not hampering her ability to speak or anything but it is very noticeable.

complete moron, as many seem to be in that position, reach out and and ask them on a personal basis. I would think there would be something in their training for recognizing those conditions.

I hope everything comes out alright for your girl. She's a cutie.

Odds are she'll grow out of it. Fangers crossed.

It's not that uncommon. It can be tiring for them though. It's usually anxiety or their brain racing. My brother had a bunch. As a grown man he is fine. I hope the same for you. Don't stress her out on that. Let her be free and see where it goes for a bit. JMO
