married. He's and older guy (late 40's) and a while into the conversation I asked if he was ready to give half of everything he has ever earned to someone he hates. He got pretty mad at me about it, but its a sound question that more people need to srsly consider before they get married. I guess when you're young and don't have anything, it doesn't matter. But later, when that changes...it does. A lot.

knew divorce was inevitable. Max out some credit cards, buy a sweet boat, car, whatever. I figured splitting debt is a lot better than splitting assets.

I'm going to make sure she does too. No way in hell I could be one of those guys living like a college student while my ex wife continues living it up on my dime. I honestly don't see how dudes in that situation don't just snap and go all killdozer on the ex.

he said that in Mt Plastic, in about 90% of the divorces he handles, the couple argues over who gets the debt--not the assets. When the party is over, nobody wants to pay the bill I guess.
