They don't work. Ear plugs work best (for her, not you). Sleep studies can be done at home now. Ask your doctor. They send you home with this kit that resembles a vest bomb. After a poor night's sleep with that strapped to you, they tell you if you have sleep apnea or not. I didn't! yay...

If inexpensive......seems worth a try?

May 19, 2020, 7:27 AM

I had a sleep study because of sleeplessness. If I woke, I would be up for hours...and I wake every night.

They gave me a CPAP.....sadly, it has not helped. Considering I was borderline for needing it, and it has not helped, I have stopped using it.

Not sure about your insurance....but the sleep study and CPAP with insurance cost about 5K.

Some dentist make an appliance, that holds the lower jaw out, to open the airway. It might work for you.

I was a little afraid that it might cause a tmj dislocation over time, that would not be good, I just didn't want to take that chance, ..

I used a dental device like a mouthguard, worked well for me. SNORE-RX. Lost weight and don't need it anymore.

If you can't lose weight, get the sleep study and a CPAP machine. It is life changing!

Snoring and sleep apnea are not the same thing, but they overlap quite a bit. The CPAP machine will almost certainly stop your snoring also.

It kills both birds - the one that kills you before your time and the one that kills your wife's good night sleep.
