If Saban left Bama...

Posted: Dec 6, 2013 12:58 PM

A few reports are saying (per WCCP earlier today and yesterday) that Brown will be out, and that Saban will accept a crazy amount of money to head to Austin.

First off, unreal that Bama may not be his final destination. That will be humbling for Bama nation.

Second, who in the world do you go after if you are Bama? Who do you replace Saban with? I cannot imagine that going well for Bama. If this comes out before bowl, could help Bama's opponent, (i.e. us).

Dabo's a shoe in for that spot***

Seriously, if you are Bama...who do you go after?

Who is not a disappointment after winning 3 National Titles in four years?

I know you are so happy to have the reason to bash the football program. Crawl back under your rock.

Not a bash, he'd be a good fit at bama***

Bama has Saban's replacement on campus.

A Bear Bryant clone.

Cub Bryant is only 12 yrs old now but the Bama fans are confortable with that.

Bama would match or beat any salary offered by Texas***

Do you think the opportunity to rebuild Texas

Posted: Dec 6, 2013 1:07 PM

would be appealing with the continual pressure at Bama?
Losing McCarron among others, not that they can't reload, but I wonder if the appeal of the change would get him. Not hard to rebuild Texas with all the resources

Well then he's getting a huge raise.

Texas boosters are throwing around the number $10M.

Saban isn't leaving IF you believe what he said on...

...60 minutes. According to him, he really regrets lying about not wanting the Bama job. He said it reflected negatively on his integrity and he wishes he hadn't lied about it. Personally, I think he's learned from that situation. I don't see him doing it again... But I guess you never know.

Have Saban assistants ever fared well elsewhere? I think

Posted: Dec 6, 2013 1:25 PM

Nick is the entire brains behind that operation. He wins no matter who is around him. The other guys might be decent coaches, but i don't think they are anywhere near his level.

57-yarder to win with the clock expired. Anybody other than Satan would be raked over the coals for that one.... As to asst. coaches, Scottie (The Pharmicist) is probably their most valuable.

I think it is possible that Brown may be out, but I can't believe Texas would push him. With Saban's financial situation, he can do anything he wants to for any reason. The only one I can think of is "a new challenge". At his age, why would he need that. I think all this is just idle speculation.
