Jim Schlossnagle would be an excellent hire IMO !!!

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

If for no other reason, the name!***

Agree 100% I think he has built a heck of a prgram and to he has clemson ties and I think Clemson (not in the current state of course but long term) may be a small step up as far as history and getting a top program back on track

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think he'd be great, but he really has it made

out in Texas it would seem. Easy recruiting, good money, who knows. Just seems like an easy job out there.

I lean this way too...here's why.

Jun 7, 2015, 10:41 AM

1. I think the logistics to get him work out better than with O'Sullivan. I think the money is going to get to be too much with Sully and he's made the run to Omaha now.

2. Schlossnagle is a pitching coach . To me our bats have gotten better the last couple years enough to win. Our pitching depth and performance has struggled. Tcu team era this year....2.39......ours.....4.05. We had 200 walks....they had only 128. That's 72 free extra bases! Not to mention the Advantage in fielding. They had a .978 fielding % with only 51 errors and we were at .958 with a league leading 95! errors. That is amazing.....

3. Winning in the clutch.... TCU lost a total of 4 games when leading after 6. We lost 13. 13!!!!!!!!

4. Recruiting connections he brings to TX. 95% of their roster is from TX. Just 1 or 2 from there may be enough. PLUS he has been the recruiting coordinator at the 2 stops prior to his first HC gig at UNLV. He gets recruiting.

5. His wife, Kami, is a hottie.....

The 2 thing that may really hurt us is TCU is private with a huge endowment to throw at schollies. We know where we are at there. 2nd, his family has really dug into the Fort Worth community with foundation work and other involvement. Kids have basically been there all their life (12 years).

They don't seem to be giving

much credit to this possibility here in Fort Worth. I would love to see Schloss go to Clemson but do think it will be a very hard hire. He is very happy here and has a good relationship with TCU and surrounding community (money isn't bad either).

She is from the DFW area

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's all I needed to know...

Jun 7, 2015, 1:20 PM

that's deal breaker probably.

Methinks no one from Jack's tree will touch the job this time around. After we have to settle from someone who will actually take the job and fail then maybe yes.

Next coach (we won't get anyone deserving) won't last 5 yrs. IMO

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's not from Jack Leggett's tree

Jun 7, 2015, 12:52 PM

They were both assistants in 1993, but Schlossnagle left after the 1993 season while Jack's first year as head coach was in 1994.

If not for Sully's familiarity with the re ruining landscape around the south then I might would agree. Both are excellent coached but Sully has a leg up in recruiting this area so he's my 1. Schlossnagle is def 2.

I don't think we really have much of a shot here, but I could be wrong.
