Talk around campus that Sammy may return next year.
Dec 2, 2013, 1:28 PM
|
|
Per a somewhat reliable source: Sammy has said that if Cole is the undoubted starter next year at QB then he will heavily consider staying. He said that Sammy has said many times that since Cole is a good passer, he would return. I don't know how accurate this is but the guy saying it around campus is involved with the team so who knows. We can only dream but I'd love to have #2 back.

Cole is an excellent passer, and runner, and so is Kelly, and Watson will be. Don't forget Scheussler. Sammy should stay to leave a real mark at Clemson, and it seems to be helping him mature. I hate that Hopkins left, but it obviously was a perfect time for him as he got a year to shine while Watkins grew up and battled injuries.

one of Dabo's players would say.
I'd guess if Sammy was considering returning for his senior year it has more to do with what's best for Sammy. When and if he decides to return to the team he'll be all in and ready to do what's best for the team.
Personally, I think he'll return to graduate and take a shot at the playoffs.

He needs to look at what happened to Arron Murray, Marcus Mariota, Jeff Driskel, Zach Mettenberger, Marqise Lee, Keith Marshall and the list goes on and on and on.
As Eminem said in 8 mile, you only get 1 shot....

potential.
The reality is that insurance can in fact protect him against realistic earnings.
Contracts are not guaranteed in the NFL, and a many of first round picks are out of the league without earning up to potential.
He should not stay, but insurance can mitigate the risk appropriately.

He will go in the first round and maybe the second WR taken and Cole is not proven one thing to this point that he can light it up like boyd did and for Sammy to take that chance would be stupid on his part! Wait until the agents blow smoke up his rear and shower him with gifts...Sammy is gone for sure!

CJ, AE and Boyd were gone too. Dabo seems to have a knack for getting players to hang around. I'd say , there's more of a chance of Sammy staying than Bryant staying. With 2 kids already, MB will feel the need to take care of them.

can't recall Dabo ever saying a player should go, but he's said as much with Sammy, that he's clearly ready. We've been surprised before, but this would be the biggest of all. He's a top 10 pick

If you look at the numbers,
Dec 2, 2013, 1:51 PM
|

They are basically the same as Hopkins career numbers.
Hopkins Rec 206, Yds 3020, Avg 14.7 TD 27 Sammy Rec 224, Yds 3164, Avg 14.1 TD 25 (Plus another 300 or so rushing yards and 1 TD)
Hopkins was a 1st rounder and is doing really well in Houston (in spite of their QB sucking).
Sammy is no doubt a 1st rounder and should go.

As much as I'd love for him to do it (selfishly) coming back would be an incredibly stupid thing to do. He's going to get a huge payday soon, and it's a sure thing if he doesn't get a career ending injury in the bowl game.
Come back next year and you put that in jeopardy. You never know when you are going to get Marcus Lattimore'd. It'd be a terrible shame for Sammy to never see the NFL.

...he could have walked with ease, and CJ had a h311 of a lot more of a risk at RB than Sammy.
One of the proudest moments for me to see was CJ getting a standup ovation from the faculty as he received his diploma.

Never happen, at least should never happen. Sammy has NFL talent & should find a good agent & get ready for the combine.
