Pulled into driveway on Friday and found this fella

waiting on me. Less than a foot long. Went to get shovel, couldn't find shovel, grabbed some hedge clippers, and....couldn't do it. He got relocated in a ditch half a block away, with a stern warning not to return.

Having never seent a baby before, do they all have that lighter sand coloring, or is it because you live closer to the coast (at least I think you live closer to the coast). Ones I've seent in the upstate are all darker colored.

And all copperheads have the distinctive 'hershey kiss' pattern on the side.

They'll travel 1-2 miles. So you didn't relocate him far enough. He'll be back.

Copperheads are a very real threat every year. A few years ago, a kid in the adjacent neighborhood was bitten and eventually died from a copperhead bite.
