But I saw the great Ted Williams hit a line drive to right field that hit the top row of lights in the old Meadowbrook Park in Greenville in about 1958 or 1959. I believe that ball would have hit the railroad tracks if it cleared the lights. Anyone remember the old park?

It would take a really old guy to remember such an event. My high school coach took me and like many at that game, he has passed away. But I’m a Clemson guy, I wouldn’t like to you!
I bet someone still living in Greenville remembers that famous day and year! (Apologies to Longfellow)

I remember going to the old Meadowbrook Park when I was a kid. Had a lot of fun there. Pretty sure Nolan Ryan pitched quite a few games there before he made the big leagues.
I remember seeing the Indianapolis Clowns play there too in the mid sixties. Kinda like a baseball version of the Harlem Globetrotters.
They put on a great show.

Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, Tom Seaver, and of course Tommy Lasorda. I was born in Woodside in 1954 and lived there until 1965. Great times.
