CDS by the numbers

Apr 25, 2012, 8:34 AM

from Athlon Sports. They ranked CDS 8th of 12 in ACC.

Swinney is just 13-15 against opponents that finish the season with a winning record

Swinney is 6-8 against Top 25 teams

Coach Swinney is 0-3 against arch rival South Carolina

The 0-3 is wrong obviously but I was surprised by his losing record against winning programs.

TB beat USC a lot. We loved that, but he lost to the other teams. Seems like Dabo is having trouble with both. I know we won 10 games last year but it took 14 and the coots won 11 in 13....yikes

yeah if (woulda coulda) we beat usuck the last 2 years CDS numbers would look much better in Clemson fans eyes.

15-13 against teams with winning records. and 3-1 vs usuck.

but still would be 1-3 in bowls including the 70 pt debacle last year.

on the bright side we did finish top 25 in 2 of his 3.5 campaigns.

I definitely think we're seeing improvement

We were 4-2 against ranked teams in 2011 if you include the ACC championship and bowl, or 3-1 if you don't. Good things take time, and I think this program has the ability to beat almost any team in the nation. 2012 will definitely be the big test to see if we can maintain our largely successful last season.

well in a 12 game schedule

you on avg face 6 winning and 6 losing programs. If you go 9-3, you're more than likely going to be .500 against the winners. Also, if you're ranked below 12-13 in the Top 25, you would typically have a losing record against the Top 25 if the games were evenly distributed. The 2009 loss against the Coots was the most disturbing and last years should have been a down to the wire game but wasn't. Coots should have and did drill us in 2010- we had no qb/offense.
