Don't Mess With Meth

Over the past several years I've noticed, what appears to me, to be a significant increase in the number of men with a bald or semi-bald head. Recent photos in the Seneca Journal show those arrested in drug roundups are primarily charged with Meth use or distribution. Most appear to be bald or semi-bald. It doesn't appear to be an age factor because the age range is usually in the upper teens and into the 60's. I've seen photos of before and after extended use of Meth and the change, particularly in women, is drastic re appearance of aging but have never heard if use of Meth results in baldness in men. Does use of Meth result in loss of hair in men or, are bald men more prone to use Meth?

Might be more compelling reasons than early hair loss. One that comes to mine is early life loss. But maybe your post will save a life and therefore a full head of hair somewhere

Not a user, but Walter White shaved his head completely bald when he built his meth empire, I suppose so he would look the part and fit in better with his clients.

I do not use Meth, and do not feel the urge to do Meth.
My answer is that loss of hair is not a direct correlation to using Meth or does it aid in the desire to use it.
Using Meth is a choice made by individuals with hair, without hair, with teeth, without teeth although it is a fact that it can help you out in the tooth loss category, fat, skinny...etc. The drug is unbiased and therefore I do not believe you can make this comparison!

I regret posting this story. I had assumed this was a board for mature adults.

Tooth loss is the main visible feature I believe.

you are correct.the term is meth mouth,a result of over ingestion of sugar in various forms and the lack of hygiene.

I’m partially bald and have had a few teeth crowned the last few years. I don’t do meth. Oh wait! A few years ago, I came really close to having a heart attack. I was put on blood thinners and a beta blocker for the heart. Or, did my doc prescribe me meth?? Dang! That dadgum doctor!!??

Surprised by many of the comments to this post.
While I don’t exclusively associate hair loss to Meth use, it’s undeniable that Meth, heavy prescription pain drugs, and a topper of heavy alcohol use will directly impact the body’s ability to regenerate and heal.
This includes skin, teeth, most other major functions, and, oh yes Hair. It’s simply the result of taking drugs that serve to directly counter the body’s immune system.
The teeth coonection is usually a function of chronic dry mouth among users that promotes bacteria, hence that cause and effect.
This is a sometimes, always, never problem. If you’re bald, it obviously doesn’t mean you use Meth, but if you have a genetic disposition to baldness and routinely use Meth, youre probably gonna eventually end up Chernobyl.
In effect, Joe’s right. Thanks for playing.
