If he was the one leading our offense to a national championship, he would be THE hottest coach in America right now.

I don't see what's tough about that Francis. No doubt IMO that if the Chad had stayed with Clemson, and our O would have remained as successful after 5-6 year with us, I personally believe The Chad would have been Charlie Strong replacement for the longHorns!!!

Chad is where he wanted and needed to be and our offense has combined the best of his philosophy with some fresh new concepts that made it more balancec, potent, and effective.

Hell no. He'd have Mike Williams out there thinking he's Elway. Chad had great concepts but was a terrible playcaller.

100% agree. Chad Morris was good for our program and I think he left at a time that was mutually beneficial to him personally and the Clemson program. No hard feelings when he left & I've never harbored any ill will toward him. Hope he ends up doing well at SMU. I know Clemson has done just fine without him.

Amazing how clueless some people are about football. We set records under Morris and Morris locked up Deshaun's commitment when Deshaun was a sophomore. Not too mention he groomed Elliot and Scott on this offense.

Chad and Clemson had a win-win situation. Our offense improved dramatically and he was able to use that to land a HC job. Tony and Jeff tag teaming it had taken it up a notch but we should be very thankful for the work Chad did here.

Nah, Chad moved at the right time. His stock skyrocketed with Clemson, and he went to a program where the only direction is up. He's in fertile recruiting territory, and is only now building on his already established TX high school relationships, now with a higher pedigree.
I think he pulled the trigger at the right time and is only at the beginning of his journey, but that's just my opinion.

Haha up? SMU is trash and they will never be relevant. They get the players that OU, UT, A&M, Baylor, Houston, TCU, OK State, or even LSU don't want.

I would go with - "Make hay while the sun shines" in Chad's case. He landed a HC gig, and is doing very well IMO. He made the same decision I would have made.

It's easy to say that but would DW4 had progressed the way he has as a QB had Morris still been there though? Maybe, maybe not...Morris is not the best QB coach and Streeter is a master QB coach. Maybe we wouldn't have even gotten this far had he been here still...

I agree.
SMU completely ruined any stock that Morris had garnered as a head coach. He will have to go be an OC some where again. It's not so much when but where. He should have never went to SMU...come on...Shoukd have put his ambition on hold and been a little patient.

Chad got the head coaching job he had been actively seeking for several years. Clemson got two very bright co-offensive coordinators who built upon the foundation Chad laid, and we got the national championship we had long coveted.
To me, both parties improved themselves and both have had success. I don't think we would have won the national championship this year if Chad were still our OC. Heck, I don't think we would have beaten Oklahoma in the bowl game (the one where Stoudt started) if Morris had stayed.

Tough for any of us to really know the answer but I think it worked out for the best. He wanted to be a HC in Texas, there was never a question about that, and he is improving his squad at SMU. He also helped bring along TE and BS, obviously having plenty of influence on them. I do differ on those who feel that he is the main or only reason however. By all accounts TE has always had a good football mind, and Scott, well lest we forget his dad was a darn good playcaller himself when he had FSU talent. I give credit to him as well for Brad's football acumen. Additionally, lest we forget our QB development is better imo now that we have Streeter. Look, we can beat it to death, but I think all in all everyone involved has benefited from that period. As Tommy Bowden did some good thing (Yes, he really did) so too did Chad. All that matters is that best is standard! Go Tigers
