Aug 10, 2012, 2:14 AM

bama/allbarn rivalry is overrated....our rilvarly with coots is just as intense and passionate but we dont get the hype that those two schools get

Aug 10, 2012, 2:56 AM

Agreed, but both of our teams need to have more sustained success and regularly play for championships before we get the kind of hype those schools get.

2010 14-0
2006 11-2
2004 13-0
1997 10-3
1994 9-1-1
1993 11-0
1989 10-2
1988 10-2
1986 10-2
1983 11-1

All of these years occurred since Clemson was last relevant.

Aug 10, 2012, 2:18 PM

Alabama and Auburn get more attention because those teams are typically superior to us and the coots. It's plain and simple. Fans of other teams don't care how much you hate each other if you both are mediocre or just plain stink.

Now, while I enjoy the Bama/Auburn more, Michigan/Ohio State is definitely the most competitive rivalry. Historically, Auburn is not as consistent as those other three teams.

except win the last 3

Aug 10, 2012, 4:26 AM

Sorry just saying

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that's not a drop in the bucket,

Aug 10, 2012, 5:08 AM

compared to the 100+ yr. rivalry. it goes quite a few years further back than 3,at least by anyone with any knowledge of college football, which excludes the vast majority of usuc fans.

That is something small to crow about, but the coot team did get some 5th place rings.

I understand what you're saying but,

Aug 10, 2012, 6:57 AM

you dont hear about incidents like damaging trees on campus, death threats against coaches and the like. They have a little name that grabs you, The Iron Bowl. What's ours? The Palmetto Bowl? LOL. How wimpy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When one team dominates the other as much as we have you...

Aug 10, 2012, 6:59 AM

, then you don't have non-wimpy names for the rivalry.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are right about your team dominating.

Aug 10, 2012, 7:06 AM

However, your reason for the wimpy name shows your ignorance, again. I just wasted 10 seconds of my life replying to you. Bye Bye.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Instate rivalries are the most intense, no doubt about it.

Aug 10, 2012, 7:16 AM

Our is just as intense as any other instate, imo. But having Alabama as part of it, takes it to a national level of interest, much more than CU vs So Car.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-fatherg-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I Agree

Aug 10, 2012, 8:24 AM

As others have said, the difference is the success of the programs in Alabama. Their success brings more national attention to their rivalry.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe if we consistently did as well as those two schools do

Aug 10, 2012, 10:17 AM

we'd get the hype they do. Until then, no.

With out a JUCO transfer by the name of Cam Newton Auburn would have never won a national title.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that can be said for many teams

Too win a NC you need three things

Aug 10, 2012, 3:27 PM [ in reply to Re: Rivalries ]

1. Coaching
2. A standout player
3. A hint of Luck

Auburn had all those things in 2010 (Malzan, Newton, and their more than fair share of luck)

Re: Rivalries

Aug 10, 2012, 12:03 PM

Clemson has the credentials and the history to make it a National game of interest. It is SC that is the problem. If this rivalry was a National focus it would have looked like the NFL playing a college team. What could the reporters say about SC to make them look competitive before the audience lost interest and changed the channel?

Cockstripe, the only thing worse than posing as a Clemson

fan on your rival's website is actually going to the effort you did in this post to try and cover your dumb ###. There's something very wrong with you.
