Unless the computers were programmed by computers

then the delta still sits with humans. The over rating of SEC teams reduces the negative of losing to weak teams. Initial power rankings throw the computer's "unbiased" data into the junk pile.

It'll settle out this weekend. If we lose to Scar, it won't matter....but if we win, most odds you'll see this scenario:
1) Auburn will most odds lose to Bama, so they will drop after this weekend. 2) If Missou wins against TAMU, they're set for SECCG...they stay ahead until after that game, then they are out of the way when they play and lose to Bama...If they lose to TAMU, they drop then.

The computers are the problem. I just saw on ESPN that
Nov 24, 2013, 9:13 PM
|
|
N. Illnois is 7th in the computers, and we are 10th. How is that possible?? We are 4th in 2/3 of the BCS and 6th overall because of the computers.
My only guess is the fact we had to play 2 FCS teams due to the ACC's blunder of switching back and forth from the 8 to 9 back to 8 conference games, leaving us to scramble for another opponent and getting SC State. The Citadel game yesterday is probably what dropped us to 10th.
That said, I thought there was no way we would be behind Missouri.

The georgia team we beat was legitimate top 25. That's the team that beat USC and LSU. The injury riddled joke that's playing now isn't top 25, but that the flaw in the computers - no adjustments for injury driven changes.

Of course. Neither computers nor pollsters are perfect.
Nov 25, 2013, 1:41 AM
|
|
But the computers tend to do a better job of accounting for strength-of-schedule than humans. For many years the pollsters ranked Utah, TCU & WVU in the Top 25 for romping undefeated or once-defeated through weak conferences (MWC & Big East). But as soon as those schools joined big-boy conferences (Pac-12 & Big-12), they started taking multiple losses and were nowhere to be seen in the Top 25.

based on significant personnel changes - losing players to injury means that Georgia is a cupcake now. When they were full strength, not so much.

That really got screwed by the latest polls in my opinion. Yeah we should be #4 or #5 but all we really need to do is focus on beating USC. If we do that, everything else will fall into place.

It sucks we dropped but those of you calling this a conspiracy make our fanbase look like fools.
From a post I made in another thread:
Just to show this isn't a great conspiracy, South Carolina went from 10th in the computers to 12th. We went from 7th to 10th. We fell one more spot than them because a team in between us in the computers (Mizzou) beat a Top 25 team, improving their SoS. Even Bama slipped to #2 in the computers since they played Chattanooga. FSU played a hot-garbage Idaho team, but they're still 1A, so they got more credit than Bama. These were the three teams in the Top 25 who played 1AA schools and they all dropped in the computer rankings.

They were ranked in the Top 25, so it boosted their computer rankings. Playing a 1AA team like we did crushes you in the computers.
Note both human polls have Clemson at #4.
