Bentley Observation

Let’s get this out of the way first, he absolutely torched our defense last night and had the game of his life. I think a lot of that goes to the scheme the coot coaches put together to use tempo and formational shifts to confuse our back 7 but Bentley made the throws he needed to.
My main observation comes from sitting a few rows back from their bench and paying attention to him and the offensive players when we had the ball. I can’t remember one time I saw him get up to congratulate the defense coming off the field, try to pick them up, or really paying much attention at all. He’d come off the field and go sit on the bench until it was time to go back on the field. IMO it was a pretty big indicator that while he is propped up to be the leader of the team, there is not much leadership that is coming from it. In contrast to the way our DL supports the other units while they aren’t on the field, and the way several other teams have showed a togetherness that I think is important. It just wasn’t there. Maybe I’m nitpicking or reading too much into it but to me it showed a clear lack of cohesion and leadership on their team and one of the reasons why they’re not a threat moving forward even if Bentley returns.

There was no interaction though. I understand there wasn’t much to congratulate them for but you’d think he’d get in their huddle and try to pump them up or lift their spirits or something.
The only guy I really saw do that with regularity was Ulrich. He showed more leadership than anyone on their team combined.

Bentleys are all about Bentleys

Dad was the king of running up scores when he was at Byrnes. When he thought he was not getting enough glory he left for Presbyterian where he was the one having the score run up on him. He left PC in a hurry. Jake is the last chance for glory for the family. They intend to ride him as long as they can. Think about this, Jake had the game of his lifetime and they were still 21 points short against a true freshman. Just know in Bentley world, it is the world's fault if you do not see their greatness.

Well, I for one, am not knocking Bentley. He had great game and gave us valuable experience for our playoff run.
