He should have been charged, he wasn't in danger

But I'm going to go on to accuse Clemson, Oconee, and Pickens police departments of ignoring actual crime to pick low hanging fruit like this kid. Theft and other crime is rampant, and they're more worried about busting people over 1/4 ounce of weed.
This is evidence of what's probably a more nationwide trend in policing, they aren't helping anybody when it comes to property crimes, etc., but they'll shoot your asss over a bag of pot, then wonder why the general public harbors a massive amount of distrust toward them.

However, the cop shouldn't have shot the kid. The kid was trying to get away, not run him over. Cop put himself in the way. Shoot the tires or something.

would not have gotten the kids license tag and run it, found out where the kid lived, then one dark night sneak up on his doorstep with a paper bag filled with canine feces, light the bag on fire, ring the doorbell, and then dash off into the shadows giggling hysterically.

generally when you shoot someone several times in the chest the intent is to kill, but I could be wrong.

I could see the justice department being more likely to get involved if the kid was black. Didn't they bring charges in a couple of recent police shootings where the deceased was black? Regardless the cop should lose his job and face charges.... manslaughter at the least. That being said, I have less sympathy for the kid after the DA released cell phone texts where he was bragging about running from the cops on a regular basis. Just a matter of time before he hurts himself or someone else.

Every boy ever that was 19 and had a car (or not) has bragged about running from the cops.
Boy may have been a real POS, I mean he was holding weed amiright? (that was sarcasm, BTW)
Not sure that a Seneca cop should have been the one to be judge, jury, and executioner though.

No matter the color of your skin, police officers will use excessive force to the point of fatality in order to do their job. Shoot first ask questions later. I'm not sure how any of what we've seen in the media lately from cops is considered protecting and serving.
Truth is though... It's discouraging to me anytime someone loses their life.
