Has their ever been a hotter game in DV than the 8/31/03 UGA game?

Don't think so personally. What say ye?

It wouldn't have been so hot if we hadn't gotten stomped

Oct 19, 2012, 6:42 AM

But I do remember being pretty miserable otherwise too.

It also didn't help

Oct 19, 2012, 7:21 AM

That most of the stadium, notably the student section, cleared out by the 4th quarter--leaving the sun to bounce off all those aluminum seats and absolutely scorch the few of us who stayed till the bitter end. It was like sitting in a solar oven.

there may have been some that were a little hotter, but the heat and the fact that we were losing at halftime to freaking Troy wins it

so I can't speak to "forever", but that was, by far, the hottest game I've ever attended.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Two that spring to mind:

Oct 19, 2012, 7:20 AM

(1) VT, 9/12/1998. That game was unbelievably hot.
(2) App State, 9/7/1991. My first Clemson game ever. I happened to be in a band uniform so I was already hotter than the average fan; but that's the hottest I've ever been in a band uniform, before or since. I could not believe how hot it was that day. It had to be 120+ on the field.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

glad you mentioned app st 1991... I also agree with this one

Oct 19, 2012, 12:22 PM

First game of 1991. So hot I immediately went over to lake hartwell after the game and jumped in fully clothed. Shoes and all.

Re: glad you mentioned app st 1991... I also agree with this one

Oct 19, 2012, 12:31 PM

I've always said that that game inoculated me to hot-weather games because it was as hot as I've ever been at any football game, ever. Of course it didn't help being in a thick wool uniform, so post-band years there may have been hotter games but it's hard for me to compare. I suspect the UGA and VT games may have been worse. I'd've had to be wearing the uniform to make a true comparison. :)

NO. That was the hottest game ever and we got destroyed. That was my first game as a student. Have to say that was not a good way to start out your college football experience.

That game was the hottest game I can remember. I remember rumors of lineman from both teams throwing up on the field.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sure, but this is the most important game in 20 years...

Oct 19, 2012, 10:16 PM

for me. I am a Georgia boy. My family are mostly UGA alums/fans. I went through high school as THE Clemson fan that battled hundreds of UGA fans. The fact that Clemson has not beaten UGA in a quarter century is the single worst fact in my sports life. Imagine if Clemson had not beat SCAR in 10 years. THAT is how I feel about us and UGA.

Re: Has their ever been a hotter game in DV than the 8/31/03 UGA game?

Oct 19, 2012, 11:34 PM

For me in order from hottest to least hot: (wasn't at UGA 2003)

1. GT 2004 (tailgating - game was at 8) got there at like 2:00 and it was miserable until like 7.
2. Troy 2011. 95 degrees but luckily sat under the over hang
3. Mid Tenn St (tailgating - game was at 6) 2009 low 90ish and started drizzling the second half. Muggy that night.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The 99 Marshall game was pretty dang hot ....

Oct 19, 2012, 11:54 PM

the 2001 Wofford game was pretty nasty, too. I sat in upper deck north for both of those games.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That was the most miserable game

Oct 20, 2012, 12:45 AM

Number 1 we got are butts kicked.....number 2 was the unholy heat. It wasn't so much the heat as it was the humidity...honestly I don't think I have ever felt such heat in a crowded situation. I remember going down the restrooms and a big woman was crying in that crowd because she could not breath. I felt bad for her...heck I couldn't breath either.
