I really wish Cole the best of success, but what does an NFL team see in him? This is a genuine question, nothing to get upset about. I really do want him to do well. I just clearly lack some understanding.

Physically, he's got what it takes to be an NFL QB. He had a great bowl game, quite possibly the result of a change at QB coach. The Charger's have nothing to lose, and in a different offensive system with NFL-caliber coaching, time may prove they got a steal.

Could it be that his injured shoulder has healed completely and he is more comfortable throwing ?

could be, but i would attribute it more to the fact that he was a square peg here. his skill set is a pocket passer, something that NFL teams value and one of the reasons Cole's predecessor has a tough time at the next level. Just because Cole couldn't run our offense, or just because Morris struggled to call plays with Cole under center, doesn't mean he is not NFL material. I honestly think he will thrive in that setting and will only be limited by somewhat pedestrian arm strength.

Cole is the prototype in the physical eyes. At 6'4" 231lbs, he is able to stand in the pocket and see the field. He has the NFL skill set. For proof, Youtube the NFLPA game and watch his portion. He played extremely well given that his o-line was a patchwork All-Star game line and the talent wasn't top tier (Senior Bowl featuring the second and third string.) Cole, much like Tajh Boyd, came from a traditional system. He played some shotgun but mostly 3-step, 5-step, 7-step dropback QB that was in a system that did not match his skill set at Clemson (sorry but its true.)
Cole showed in both NFLPA and bowl games that he is coachable given the "right" coach or a dedicated position's coach. Brandon Streeter happened to be both. In a months time, Cole looked much more like the QB we were hoping to see throughout the season in the bowl game. In the NFL, most QBs have a position coach. That would benefit Cole.
Finally, unlike Tajh Boyd (6'1" 225lbs?), teams are willing to take a flyer on a college career backup with the physical attributes because he knows he could be ready to play in a moments notice or be ready to run the practice squad. If anyone is the "square peg," it was Tajh Boyd. And being drafted by the struggling Jets offense did not help Boyd's product either.

Cole's problem was Chad. Even when Cole was identified as the starting quarterback, it was clear that Chad was designing an offense/strategy for Watson. Hope he does great - he'll be a great ambassador for Clemson

Following in the footsteps of Clipboard Jesus. I'm glad to see him land somewhere & get the opportunity to prove himself. I really feel that his real ability level is what he showed in his opportunities behind Boyd & in the OU game. I think the inbetween was a mix of injury & jitters from trying too hard to impress a staff & fanbase who wanted to rush Watson onto the field. As long as he gets his shot @ the next level, I suppose it all worked out. Best of luck, Cole!
