Gilliam....

I have to give him a shout out because he has truly became what we knew he could be. A dominant end of the rotation pitcher. He has always had electric stuff and I do mean electric. When he has the breaking pitch going with total control it is unhittable. Mix that with a mid 90's fastball and this kid has everything it takes to be a dominant force. The only thing that has held him back is his control and the mental side. I think when he loses control he starts over thinking and trying to aim the ball more which gets him in trouble which in turn loses movement on the 2 seamer and breaking ball but he has been outstanding the past few weeks and he seems to have gotten into a comfort zone. He catches a lot of grief from fans but he has really come on of late and is someone Clemson needs, and proved they needed this past weekend, to do damage in the postseason.

Agreed; now we need to get Spiers and Marr able to throw strikes when they hit the mound. Miller was really good until the 8th inning Sunday when pitching in C'ville. These guys and the starters will be tested by FSU in next series.

Love to see Gilliam pitch, when he has control !!!! That breaking ball seems to tip the bill of their hat as it passes their belt buckle !!!!
We will really need him,as we get into the better play-off games** Pitching by ""committee"" has worked well for us this year and with Gilliam coming on to close, this team can be special** GO TIGERS !!!

Also have Spencer Strider. Just imagine if Owen Griffith could get his stuff under control. Mitchell Miller too. I have no idea why he hasn't developed any quicker than he has. Those guys have electric stuff

I've been his biggest critic for years. He is awesome now. Like you said, his stuff his electric. I didn't know if he would ever put it together mentally though, but he has. 1 thing i notice is he moves slower out there instead of rushing everything. He takes a little longer between pitches and takes longer to come set. This has been big for him.

Yep... made the arguement in the past with you that it was all mental with Gilliam which scared me because I wasn’t sure he could fix it. Glad he did bc he is pitching lights out in big time pressure situations.
For post season we just need 1 guy who can give us a fourth solid starter type of innings which at Clemson is 5-6 with our bullpen.

IMO the 4th starter would be Ryan Miller or Spencer Strider. Probably Miller b/c of his control.

Agree Miller should get the nod. Only worry is I’m not sure he has the endurance to last 5 innings. Good news all those guys you mentioned before should be able to string enough innings together to bail out any potential 4 starter.

Miller, Strider, Spiers/Marr could give you 9 innings

Clemson pitcher Ryley Gilliam had save in all 3 games vs. Virginia, first pitcher in school history to do that in 3 game series.
